    New to me m108 2.5 ton crane/wrecker

Most M108's I've seen for sale did not have the boom supports. I was very happy that mine did. Beautiful M108. Mine is M41104. I'm glad you got a great deal on it. I know this thread is old, but I just came across it. Good luck with your M108! If you need upper and lower seat cushions...

    Help with snatch block calculations

There may be better resources, but at the end of this post I'm listing two websites that helped me determine my calculations. The first site helped me to determine the resistance of my 23k lb truck being winched onto my trailer with a 10% grade from grass mire. Based on the calculations on...

WOW, thank you! Over 4 years on this site and I've never even seen that FM referenced. That looks like a GREAT resource and read. Mikey

    Electrical Starting Issue

My batteries arced once and it melted a hole in the battery and damaged some other minor items like the horn solenoid. I have since switched to batteries with stud terminals and that's all I use now.

    NC Motor Vehicle regulations

The best thing I can tell you both is what the mods always say when they are not saying read the tm or when cupcake is not fighting with Tony Cologne. Nobody here is qualified to give legal advice and any legal advice given should be taken for exactly what it is. Free advice. Now with that...

    NC Motor Vehicle regulations

I am NOT an expert on NC law. However, this is the biggest problem I see with people giving advice on registering 5 tons and I see it often and in MANY states. You cannot legally pick your own weight. As per the original post, by Kfrosty, NC law appears similar to PA law: 20-4.2 (2b) Class...

    M35A2 Fuel Tank

I have had a few tanks with pinholes under the metal straps. Remove the tank, sand the affected area and cover it with JB weld and it's as good as new. Pinholes in this area are quite common. Mikey

    M35A2 questions

You will never get an accurate answer with a "what's this worth?" thread with a few pictures. First you have a diverse group of opinions and secondly, none of us have looked the truck over or kicked the tires. The question really is, what's it worth to you? And none of us can answer that...

    How bad would it be?

I wish I had a better close up picture before I painted it, but on the door, you could see the brush strokes in the black paint. In the zoomed in picture you can see the difference in surface height where the green meets the black. I bought this truck directly from auction. Mikey

    How bad would it be?

My M35 was clearly painted with a brush in the military. When I painted my deuce, I rolled the paint on with a roller in the large areas and used a $100 wagner paint sprayer for the corners and tight areas. You can see the roller in the picture. It came out great in my opinion. Not museum...

Official 2015 Military Transport Association of NJ Show & Swap Meet 4/18-19

I'll be either visiting or camping. I'll know which as we get closer. This year I'll be looking for some items for my M108 wrecker. I'll be looking for a whiffle tree and a proper or newer lifting hook to replace the clevis and hook I have no there now. Mikey

    Help with snatch block calculations

Thanks specifically for answering that question! Even knowing that I can get this done with one snatch block, I was still very curious to know the answer to that question. I did plan on winching the truck to B, blocking the wheels, then removing B and moving C back to the winch to finish the...

    Help with snatch block calculations

Thanks everyone for your responses. I really appreciate it. I'd rather be safe than sorry. The truck is currently in a field and has been sitting for some time. I planned to pull it a few feet with my tractor and a chain to get the wheels free. Although it does roll freely, I still figured...

    Help with snatch block calculations

Ramp angle is a great point, thanks. I never figured that into the calculations. I'm not experienced with rigging, which is why I'm turning to the experts. The Eager Beaver 20 ton tag trailer has a 10 degree angle for 9' (5' dovetail plus 4' ramps). Mikey

    Help with snatch block calculations

I have a trailer with a 12k electric winch. I want to use it to winch up my 5ton M51A2 in the spring, which weighs about 23k. In a perfect world I could use 2 or more snatch blocks and call it a day. The problem is that I only have 62' of winch cable. If I had 100' I estimated using 2...

    M35A2 questions

The #1 question is how much to you trust the sellers diagnostics when it comes to your money? If it becomes too much to handle, then you'll be lucky t get scrap value from a member here. Right now you are buying the "unknown", which is why I said $2k. It's a gamble. You could replace the in...
