Not to send you in a different direction, but some people have mentioned on here that they resolved the hard shifting problem, especially 2 to 1, by switching to ATF. I personally prefer to use what came in my truck and I've read there is risk of damage to the tranny if you do the switch wrong...
I brought my M101 trailer with me. I had the tag in the truck because I chose not to drill into my trailer to mount the plate. An older security guard who ran the xray truck came in and started grilling me about the tag. I explained that it was in the truck and why I didn't hang it, and of...
gem1410 hit the nail on the head. I was at Ft Dix three weeks ago and gate security will scrutinize your vehicle. License, registration, insurance and even inspection. Make sure you've got all your paperwork for the truck and trailer and make sure everything is current.

I appreciate everyone's kind words and advice. I'm excited about owning a Jeep and the adventures that go with it. I hope to meet some fellow Jeepers at upcoming events.

Pun intended?
Some of the best deals on MV's, sadly, is at the expense of the sellers finances or health. If you're willing to spend the cash and trusting him, you could wind up with a pretty decent bobber for a fair price. You will still have to deal with the title issue, but that in...
Some red flags:
1) Title - Not only is it titled as a Volvo, the GVWR is incorrect.
2) Ran when parked, may need brake work
3) Recommend you haul it home
4) Owned it for 100 miles and is willing to sell it for less than he paid
The title issue alone is worth walking away. Then you have to...
Hindsight... It's a bitch! I think there are hundreds of people on SS, myself included, who are KICKING themselves now for not buying the $50 Jeeps in a box in the 80's. I was barely in high school when I last saw those, but even back then I understood that I wanted a military Jeep and that it...
Thanks Clinto and Amer-team for the windshield tip. Clinto, I think you're half right. The windshield locks are pretty loose. They hold the windshield upright but they look like they can unlock with a good bump. I did not know there was a gasket under the frame, but I had already been eyeing...
Congrats on getting your first deuce and on getting the wipers working. However, before you head out into the snow, do you have stock NDT tires? If so, you may want to reconsider. They are horrible in snow and ice unless you've got chains. Even if you don't have NDT's remember that you need...
From the deuce world I know that if it stops dripping, then you have a problem. I wasn't sure if Jeeps were the same. The drip is slight but might be coming from a plug. I'll degrease the engine and go from there. I was thinking of changing the plugs anyway due to the rough start as well as...
Thanks everyone! I'm very excited. There is practically no rust on the body or frame, which is great. Cosmetically, she is in excellent shape. She drives in all gears and 4wd works. It's still 24v, which is great as a lot of Jeeps I saw for sale were converted to 12v.
She leaks a...
To complicate things, which gauge was changed? The speedo, tacho or both? You can never know for sure. Sometimes the entire gauge panel gets swapped including both gauges. That high mileage truck could have 3k actual miles on it. Don't trust the hours OR the mileage on either truck. Do your...
Personally, I would buy truck 1. It has an average speed of 125mph. I can't get my M931A2 above 65mph.
You will need to learn to disregard both hours and miles in your search for an MV. These gauges get changed between vehicles often and are rarely accurate.

That's exactly where I'm at tennmogger. I like the idea of the reliability of grease. And yes, I was planning on using an NLGI 0 grade. I use JD cornhead grease in my deuce winch and steering box and I have a case of it in the garage.
Pro's of gear oil are less maintenance, 100k mile...
