I got new batteries for my 998. When I start it I hear a pinging noise (chime) in the dash and the charging needle bounces. It does this for several minutes then stops. Is this normal? What is happening if not? Thx

Can you install batteries in the compartment without the tray. Put down some kind of mat to absorb impact. Or do they have to be the same size as 6TL?

OK, so the 6TL's not holding a charge so read through the forum and chose the exide batteries from tractor supply. The posts say the batteries fit in compartment, which they do but, do you not use the tray?

Removed the batteries to charge them and decided to clean the compartment up. The bolts holding the tray in place were pretty bad off so I'm going to replace them. Will stainless be OK? Also, found 2 round discs in the bottom of the tray. They are about 3" diameter and abt 1/8" thick. Any...

Thx. the ones in the rear foot wells are really stuck. I didnt want to damage anything trying to remove them. I read in the TM where there were retaining straps on the front mats but couldn't see any on the rears. I will try again tomorrow.

Finally got a little time to clean up the rig. About 2" of dirt in the rear foot wells and battery box. How do you clean all the material out? I scooped up what I could with my hands and then hosed the rest but there is still some remaining. Will probably vacuum it but not sure if it will pick...

I hear ya. I still get calls, emails etc from brokers saying they can haul it for 6-800 dollars, want you to sign a contract with them and cannot guarantee a price. ha. Who did you end up using?

Turns out that the brokers that take your info and give you a quote for shipping do not honor that quote. The rates raised anywhere from 250 - $400 to haul it here to Texas. Looks like in heading north. ALSO, I will post up a few pics when I get it.
