My IP is bad, need to send it off to be rebuilt. So I've been reading the TM, but I am confused on the actual sequence of steps.
So.
1 Remove intake manifold, unbolt pump gear
2 disconnect fuel lines at injectors
3 disconnect lines from pump.
????????
Help please.
I read the figgin manual, I ASKRD if there was anything else to check. Believe me the manual is not the be all and end all that most of you make it out to be. I drove these things in the Army for years, and I also know how to wrench them. I asked for advice not attitiude.
So apparently this...
M1009 has been shifting a little late since it got colder, trans fluid level has been fine. No real problems until yesterday.
Drove to work fine, then drove to meet a guy to buy some WWII army surplus stuff, drove fine there. When leaving the truck would not shift up. Eventually it would shift...
I test drove a 1985 M1009 today. No fast idle, but ran well once warmed up.
After completeing the ride I heard a loud bubbling coming from under the hood. Popped the hood and found that it was coming from the overflow tank. This was happening even with the engine off, so I don't think this is a...
I checked out that pump today at HF. States clearly on the box not to use for fuel or fluids other than water.
They also have pneumatic drum pumps for not much more than the referenced pump. That's what I am going with.
For a few weeks after I bought the 0-9 I would be in the drive thru lane at Starbucks behind either a city PD or county Sheriff. I would pull up to the window and be told that the cops bought my coffee for me!
** Wake up the neighbors at 0500 when I start the O9 to go to work.
** Owning one of two 1009s in a city with a population of 5032. Other is owned by the Police Department.
** Going in to Police Department the day after they fitted 10 grand worth of cop gear to their 1009, and asking if they...
Yep, that's what I thought. I'll give my little brother a call, he's the regional parts manager for a GM dealer.
All went well so far, filled up the engine with 50/50 h20 antifreeze, did have a heart in throat moment when the water pump cavitated on a big air bubble..
A couple of weeks ago my 1009 blew a freeze plug. Fortunately I stopped in time before any damage done to the engine.
Couple of days ago stopped at the NAPA store to get a couple of replacement freeze plugs. I got two of the metal cup types and threw in one of the expanding rubber types "just...
I bought my 1009 two years ago. I am an RN and HAVE to get to work. Three years ago we had 2 feet of snow at Christmas.
Since I bought my CUCV he haven't had any snow to mention in two years, a couple of 2-3 inch dustings is all.
When I say I hope it really dumps snow when I am at work, the...
Looks like I have a blown freeze plug, the 1009 lost all it's coolant. Fortunately I got it stopped before any damage to the engine.
Any hints on prepwork prior to installing the new one?
Like has been said, NOTHING will deter anyone (especially professionals) from stealing your vehicle, you can only make it more difficult.
BTW, yes, you need new friends. One of these days the cops will start asking YOU questions. It's called being a known associate.
None. It was a motor pool job. Got to do this to our 1028s in Germany back about 1989. Masking tape and a rattle can of whatever paint the motor pool had lying around.
IIRC, the full stripe was supposed to be when the selectors were in "FREE" , but interestingly the ones on my 1009 are that way...
