    Parking lot kisses

Parking lot kisses, broken side mirror mount Drove my M1009 to Costco a couple days ago, and came out to find my drivers side mirror hanging on by one bolt. Bottom insert popped out no issue there (must not have been a very good factory job). The top right though, ugh. Tore out of the sheet...

    Adding a tach?

I have noticed that there is a bracket to mount a sensor of some type to read off the harmonic balancer. Does the harmonic balancer have a built in magnet or whatever to trip a pickup sensor?

High Back Seats for M1009 recommendations

Go to a junk yard, look for a 1996 Chevy 1500 extended cab 3 door, and pull the seats out of it. Now ypu have two options, drill two to three new holes in the floor boards of your truck to mount the 1996 seats and frames, or unbolt the 1996 seats and bolt them to the original M1009 frames...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Today I swapped out the seats on my M1009 for a couple out of a early 1990s Chevy 1/2 ton. Original seats are in dire need of rebuilding, it's like riding on an old buckboard wagon. I got the seats from one of those pick and pull places, 25 bucks apiece. Cheaper than a seat of Chinese seat...

New to me 1985 M1009 CUCV

I bought mine in 2009 from a seller down near San Francisco. Answered all my questions, sent detailed photos, had three to choose from at 2500 dollars. I flew down on a cheap commuter flight from Seattle to San Francisco, 49 bucks one way, return flights later that day were same price. Seller...

2 1/2 years later and the 1009 is back on the road.

Completed some work on the M1009. Replaced wire from bus bar to glow plug relay. Everything works as it is supposed to for the first time in years. Also had to repair and reinsulate wiring from bus bar to alternator. It had pretty much fallen apart and the alt was no longer charging. It has some...

2 1/2 years later and the 1009 is back on the road.

Spent the afternoon today chasing down small gremlins to fix after sitting for so long. Idle solenoid sticky, replaced that with a known good used. Kept having hard start issues, pulled put the circuit test light, found out a slice on the 12v conversion had gotten a bunch of green ooze. will...

2 1/2 years later and the 1009 is back on the road.

Unfortunately it's not my bones, I have damaged disks at L3-L4 and L5-S1. For some odd reason L4-5 is fine. Went to the best neurosurgeon in the area, he said I have a better chance of coming out worse than better. So no surg for me. Least I'm still working.

2 1/2 years later and the 1009 is back on the road.

Still a couple little things to finish tuning it all. Love that small turning radius! As far as my back, unfortunately that is not fixable. Big life changer.

2 1/2 years later and the 1009 is back on the road.

IP went out on the 1009, and during that time of trying to install a new one by myself and not being real successful I also severly injured my back at work. Found a local mechanic who I bartered with and drove the truck back from his shop tonight. Forgot how much fun it was to drive.

    True or not

If it had a PTO setup it more than likely was a civilian CJ-2a. Look almost exactly like an MB except for a few things. Jeep and other companies also sold sawmills to be powered by the CJ-2a.

I'm Lost- Pass. hub got hot and melted plastic 4x4toggle

It is easy enough to do on your own, but it can be messy. Buy a Haynes manual or print out the appropriate manual pages. You don't want to be running back and forth between your truck and your desktop dragging axle grease everywhere. Get a good aftermarket set of locking hubs. Time to jump in...

Question, is there only a single hole for the alignment pin?. Since I removed the bolts through the oil fill hole........Mebbe I'll hire some twenty year old piano player/contortionist to put it back together. This sucks being 55 yr old, bad back and short fat fingers.
