Convert to 12 volt or use a power inverter?

Yeh, it's "West End auto parts" in Plant City. They are on Hwy 574 just west of the Strawberry Festival grounds.

Convert to 12 volt or use a power inverter?

I have had absolutely no bad points at all. The truck would even start with the 24 volt starter, but it didnt like it. It was like the battery was real low. As for the cost of the starter. I dont really remember, but I would imagine it was a couple of hundred bucks ( I bought it a few years...

Convert to 12 volt or use a power inverter?

My Duece is 12 volt and I am very happy with it. The 12 volt starter was easy. I just went to a local parts store and bought it off the shelf (not Autozone or a chain store). Operates off one battery and anything electrical I need can be found easily.

    Ouverson vs. Detroit

I was going to use the ARB's but couldnt get over the fact that I could get two detroits for the price of one ARB.

    Ouverson vs. Detroit

I am getting ready to put lockers in both rear axles on my Duece. I can't decide between the Ouverson's or the Detroits. Anyone have a suggestion on what brand to go with? Is one more aggressive than the other? What brand would do better on the street?

Fun's Over in Bama, State Requires EPA/DOT Certificates of Conforminty

I wouldnt think that saying the a3 is a pre 1975 truck is lying. It was altered in the '90's but wasnt most of it built prior to '75. I would guess at least 80% of it is a2. My truck is a '66 but it was depot rebuilt in the '80's. Does that make it an 80's model - NO.

went mudding for Cinco de Mio

So you went puddling yesterday?:) Nice looking truck. If that was salt water I hope you gave the underside a good bath. Have fun.

    front axle engagement quetions

You should feel the tires binding when you make a turn. Or you could put something in front of a tire that is large enough for the truck to want to push without 6x6 engaged. If the front is engaged it will drive over it instead of trying to push it.

    Electric Fan on Deuce

I would suggest trying a fan or two from a Lincoln Mark VIII. They are great fans and move a lot of air. I have two on my Dodge cummins and have been very happy. So much better than the stock fan.

    Emergency stopping questions

There is no excuse for any owner of a vehicle not to make sure that the brakes are 100% operational on a regular basis. The age of these trucks shouldnt matter if you go thru the brakes and maintain them properly. There shouldnt be any 35 year old parts in the brake system.

    engine prep

Change all the filters and change the oil. The fuel may also have fungus in it. That wont keep it from running, but I would sure want some new filters to catch it.

    5 gallons of Kerosene okay??

I would use it, but I would add some oil to the mix. I always add 1 oz of marine 2 cycle oil to the gallon on all my diesel engines..

    Deuce caretaker

You said that they cross a stream with it. First thing I would do is check and make sure there is no water in the axles.

    buy from dealer or owner?

8 grand is crazy. For that kind of money I would want all the leaks fixed and a paint job, etc. You can find a good truck for a lot less money. These trucks are 40 plus years old so you should expect to work on it.

    GAA Grease

Not any John Deere dealer. I went to ours today and they would have to order it from Indiana. We dont have combines around here. We grow strawberries. Anyway, I went to our Massey Fergusen dealer and bought "Agco gear box grease" (EP-0). It's a lithium based grease and seems to be just like the...

    would you drive on this?

I would use them. Half my tires probably look like that. Keep them aired up good so they dont do alot of flexing.

new to deuce question about loading it

Find a warehouse or factory with an outdoor loading ramp. If not, a ditch and some planks will do. Where in Florida are you? If its close to me I could help you out.
