CUCV Snow Plow Trucks and Spreaders

After this past 40+ inch snowstorm I decided I gotta get a plow on my 08. Found a couple Fishers locally that go in front of the bumper so I shouldn't have to remove the brush guard. What year square bodies use the same plow frames? The unfortunate part is they have belt driven pumps so I'll...

    Weight of M1010 ambulance body

Looking to replace the box on my m1008, it's shot. Was looking for a contact maintenance body but the prices have gone above what I can afford.

    Odd shifter issue.

Yup lol. Was coming up the hill almost home and noticed smoke pouring out the back. Opened the hood when I got home and the top of the air filter has about 1/4 tranny fluid sitting in the dip. On a better note, I crawled under the truck a few minutes ago to look closer at the linkage and sure...

    Odd shifter issue.

To add insult to injury, took it for a test run with the new to me transfer case and the tranny puked fluid out the dip stick tube aua

    Odd shifter issue.

I'll take another look at it. Just seems odd that there's a problem now when with the original it was fine.

    Odd shifter issue.

It's number 9795470 in the parts manual. The linkage wasn't taken apart other than removing it from that c shaped bracket. It doesn't appear that there's going to be enough adjustment to account for the difference. I kinda wonder if the slot where it bolts to the shifter shaft going into the...

    Odd shifter issue.

I changed the transmission in my 1008 and now can't shift into park with the shift lever. Could the C shaped bracket on the transmission have the slotted hole clocked different? I didn't think yo use the one off my old transmission and already scrapped it. This tranny came out of a 3/4 ton Chevy.

    M1008 rear axle (seal replacement)

This seal design helps seal that area without having to use the sleeve. I believe the section that contacts that area remains still as the second part of the seal spins with the drum. The axle stub on mine does have a slight groove but shouldn't be enough to cause much of a problem, I've seen...

    M1008 rear axle (seal replacement)

When I did my rear brakes about 4 years ago I used the metal axle gasket, never leaked a drop without sealant on it. Will be pulling mine apart again shortly to replace the hub seals again, only a month old and one is leaking. Going with the 2 piece updated seals this time.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Thanks guys, I'll add a new converter to the cost. I had planned on flushing the cooler and replacing the lines anyway so that parts covered. Still highly unlikely I'll be able to afford to have my tranny rebuilt, that's why I was looking at low mileage used. I already had to start paying for...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

So to go with my transmission blown post, what's the chance the converter has been contaminated with debris in the fluid? Is there a drain plug on these ones? I may have a line on a low mileage Jasper rebuild.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I thought the SM465 had the same 3rd gear ratio, could have been mistaken. I do believe the output shafts are different though as they were usually in front of NP205. As for a rebuild, we cut things extremely tight here as it is with expenses so that's not going to happen.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Trashed my transmission today. Outfrigginstandin! Left it's mark at a Dr appointment today so topped it off. By time I was half way home it dumped everything on I81. Wife brought a bunch of fluid to me to limp it home, figuring it was blowing from the pump area. It was talking crap to me and...

    Cold Weather and CUCV's

My M1008 is my only truck so I have to drive it in the winter. Never an issue with starting, so far the coldest has been around -30. An old neighbor had a Ford F350 7.3 and even with heated block it never wanted to start lol. He hated seeing the old war pig fire right up like a gasser! Sometimes...

    M1008 Plow Question

I've been watching Craigslist in the Binghamton area for a while and rarely see any truck side frames for these square bodies. Everything is for the newer trucks. I know where theres an 87 or so Chevy parked next to a garage with s plow, been there at least 15 years. Tree has fallen on the csb...

Deuce owner in Endicott/Endwell NY area?

Just wondering if one of you guys live in this area. I passed a Deuce with front duals a couple weeks back in Endicott, then again on the 4th in Endwell by Highland Park. I was in my M1008 flying my flag off the back.
