I paid about $200 for a set of 4 2" spacers. I found them on ebay. Be sure you get the correct threads (9/16-18 not the 14mm). I got the tires & rims for a steal. They are heavy bastards so factor that in to gas miliage, etc...
There was a guy in Nebraska and a guy in Arizona who had some...
GL has a very profitable system going. Set a deadline for payment, drag your feet until this date, charge customer a default fee! That is a great business plan. That is almost as good as the guy who was selling burritos that tasted like crap for a nickel and then selling customers a...
GL is the only crack dealer in town and everyone must buy their camo crack from them. This will not change untile the DRMS gets enough complaints about them to take action.
Here are some ads I would like to see: Companies that tow/haul trucks, vehicle title bonding companies, 4x4 parts...
GL made me fill out EUCs for some 105 trailers I bought a few years back. I didn't like the concept of sending paperwork that accepts liability for the trailers when I sold them a long time ago. I went round & round with them and ended up biting the bullet.
I suggest you keep bills of sale...
I have 37's on late model HMMWV wheels using 2" wheel spacers and no lift on my m1010 (M1008 with ambulance box). I had to trim the front fenders, but not too much.
I have a M1010 that was butchered by DRMO, to include stealing the "blue box". I considered converting to 12v but I believe the rear A/C uses 24v for the fan. I thought about putting M1009 alternators/brackets on so I could keep the 24v and ditch the regulator. Look up the M1010 wiring...
I have been noticing some Demil B trucks not making it from GSAxcess to GL. Weird. I would hope that GL is up in arms about this and lobbying the right people in D.C. They would have a pretty large voice if they told all their customers to write to their congressmen.
Even if I didn't buy...
My m1009 has a 4" lift and 3/4 ton axles w/ 3.73 gears. It only has 285/75R16 tires on it now but I plan to put 37" HMMWV wheels/tires on it when I get some better gears. I am not sure what the mileage will be as I don't have plates on it yet. These never had winches as far as I know. This...
Welcome to the club! I have been addicted to green for over 10 years now. My first MV was a M1008 from Kirtland AFB, NM. It must be the "gateway drug"!
I had no belts when I got it from GL. I was hoping there was a simple gates part number for them. Oh well, I will measure and see hat NAPA has that is close.
My blue box of death was missing when I got the truck. I might just buy an aftermarket voltage regulator and scab it in.
If you have a welder, you can make a towbar for about $60. The front clevis mounts work great for mounting a towbar. You should be able to get a 5000# rated 2"~2 5/8" coupler from a tralier supply store, a couple 3' pieces of angle iron and two 1" x 4" bolts with nuts & washers. I towed my...
I need to put some alternator belts on my M1010 (Dual Leece Neville 28v 100A) so I need to know where to get these. Both alts work so I am not ready to convert to 12v just yet.
Also, has anyone converted their CUCV to use the civilian A/C? Since the M1010 already has an A/C compressor I...
I have done my fair share of river crossings in 4x4's and have learned the following lessons:
1) starters & alternators usually handle clear water okay but they will eat bearings faster.
2) idler pulley bearings wear out quickly.
3) silty muddy water will eat your starter.
4) belt driven fans...
I am sure this has been brought up before but if there was a way to petition the defense contracting oversight entity that handles GL's contract maybe things would start to improve. We have 4000 or so members on here, perhaps a letter with 4000 signatures to the right elected government...
RE: Re: RE: Preview Ft Carson
Well it was out of my price range anyway. It sold for around $1k. Combine that with the headache of towing it home and you have an expensive truck!
On another note, gsaxcess shows 5+ M35A2s in Golden, CO that will probably make it to Ft Carson here in the next...
