    wiring question -deuce noob

Thanks for the advice. I will look for the spider connection. I am amazed that these trucks do not have a fuse block or some other way to prevent a wiring meltdown!

    Built me a towbar

Wow the accident that busted that towbar must have hurt somebody! I will have to disagree on the round vs square strength argument. In simple tension, they are the same strength (given the same cross sectional area). Round tube is much stronger for twisting forces (like driveshafts) and...

    wiring question -deuce noob

I am putting a cannibalized m35a2 back together and I need info on the electrical system. The main on/off switch was working fine then a wire under the dash touched ground and now everything is dead. I have looked at schematics on tpub.com and I dont see any fuses or anything between the +...

    Built me a towbar

Here are some quick rough calculations: Yeild strength of each 2"X2"X0.25" A36 mild steel leg= 36,300 PSI X cross section area (.9375) = 34,031 PSI. Take this number times 2 to account for the other leg. These numbers seem big but I would consider this the minimum strength. When turning...

    Built me a towbar

I like your towbar design. Have you considered using an off the shelf lunette? Uhaul has them: http://store.uhaul.com/Heavy-duty_towing/Moving/Lunette_Eye_with_Threaded_Shank I am a mechanical engineer so I can run some static strength calcs for ya if needed. If you were to get serious...

    Bid Collusion, Group Buys, etc

PaFarmer, This site could probably use some pro-bono help. Things come up all the time with members getting screwed over by a certain auction entity and some legal help would be welcome. This site is very nervous about anything dealing with **llusion and will always err to the side of...

    Residue?????????????????

I believe they classify a truck as "residue" if there are any parts missing. Residue trucks almost always have all the fluids drained  My M1010 and M35a2 were bought as residue. It took some work, but they are both almost complete.

    Recycled M-113 on 5 ton

I think that is a pretty good idea. If they swapped out the gay street tires for some 16r20's I think they would have a bad a$$ truck. I bet they could built a fleet of these for the cost of one new MRAP!

    Recycled M-113 on 5 ton

That is American Ingenuity! It looks like in needs some armor between the driver and the engine compartment. Other than that, you have a low-buck MRAP.

    Anyone curious about the M35A3?

I must agee with the power steering & auto tranny. This would allow the driver to use one arm & one leg to drive, freeing up his trigger finger to dispatch "allah akbar" shouting towel-heads...

    1 Ton M1009

Well if you are planning to run 40+ inch tires, I would say go for the D60 (or 2.5 ton rockwells). I assume a lift is involved for tires that size and I would recommend putting on a crossover steering kit to eliminate bump-steer. The 6.2 is a pretty gutless engine and I don't know how well it...

    1 Ton M1009

I put a 14 bolt rear from a 3/4 ton truck and a dana 44 8 lug front. The 3/4 ton rear has the correct spring pad width so all I needed was some larger u-bolts and a different driveshaft. The front was a direct bolt-in but if I used a D60 I might have to shorten the driveshaft. I spent under...

    Anyone curious about the M35A3?

I just thought it was intersting to see one of these truck in a real world conflict. Low-budget Countries like Georgia end up using trucks like this a little close to the front line. I think the money that went into the ESP went instead into an up-armor for the m35A2, the end result would...

    Anyone curious about the M35A3?

Here is an M35A3 that the Russians shot up over in Georgia. No matter how cool they look, small arms fire can stop them in their tracks. I bet we will see this on ebay soon with a low reserve :-D

    GL Double M101 Sales

I have seen this happening at Ft Carson. I think they do it to justify the $150 bid. When a nice m101 comes up, they make a lot by iutself. I have bought over a dozen m101 & m105 trailers and I have seen them move toward the 2 per lot setup as well.

Is a Deuce a redneck truck?

The "redneck" label of these trucks is not 100% accurate. I know some tree-hugging hippies that are interested in these trucks because because they can run on french fryer oil. Just paint a deuce up in hippie tie-dye and it is no longer a redneck-mobile.

    can someone id this truck

Well looking at the rust and the question mark under the hood, I would say the only thing valuable are the 5 ton axles. If I were buying it, I would give maybe 500 bucks.

Total destruction of all End-Use items (end of trucks???)

Has anyone had an EUC approved for one of these cat 3 items since Jan1st 2009? I am waiting for a deuce EUC to clear and I am now sweating bullets. What will happen to these cat 3 vehicles?
