Has anyone done this without changing the transfer case? I want to put the air brake 5 tons under a bobbed deuce and then it will be easy to change to s cams on the rear.
Non were over 20000 pounds. The case is rated at 650 pounds of input torque in low range and that is about all they are good for. They all had good traction in the sand and were stuck at the time and in reverse.
Here is a couple. Rockwell rates the case at 650 foot pounds of input torque in low range and 7350 input torque in high range. Low range is 1.79 and high range .732 It holds 13.5 pints of oil and weighs 460 pounds. This is the 3rd one in here this year and all broke in the same place.
I do understand air brakes and i do understand deuce brakes. I would rather push on the brakes and
loose some air than push on the brakes and loose some fluid. I also have lost the brakes on a deuce.
And i do have an air brake indorcement on my cdl that I have had since 1976.
Mabey that is...
Since you live in Fl after the truck is removed you request the sr 97 and GL will fed ex you some paper work to sighn and they will send it to the state and the state will send you the title. It takes 2-3 weeks after Gl sends you the paper work to sighn. The title will be made out to the name...
I have just washed and painted them and the paint has stuck a couple years. If you want a show type paint job sand and prime just like you would anything else.
I have always hooked the small one to the tank neer the bottom. So the tank has three lines. I do not know what it is for but I have ran one of them over 30000 miles on 1400s and still going strong turns the tires at an idle stopped.
I would pull the air intake hose off at the intake and use starting fluid while someone cranks it over with at least half throttle. Start cranking before you start spraying. It might take 1/2 to a can of good starting fluid. Do not give it a big shot and then go in the truck and crank it over.
