I can't stress this enough. Yes...I did it. I was being so careful working beneath my M923, then I had to get something out of the cab and left the cab door open. I crawled beneath the truck, crawled back out, stood up, and BAM! I hit my head on the opened door. Man I know I got a...
While driving my M923A1, I stopped at a tire shop and the owner asked me if I could identify his truck on the side of the building. He showed me the truck pictured. I couldn't find any identifier plates attached on the dash in the cab. I told him I don't know, but I know who does -- this great...
Do you happen to have the link to the 900 Series Pre Start Inspection Military Video? I saw the video posted once before on SteelSoldiers; however, my search on SS and YouTube hasn't been successful. Thanks.
Don't worry. Checking and changing fluids is not that difficult or bad. You can learn even more advanced items from the technical manuals (TM). Not everyone performs all maintenance like brake shoes or wheel bearings. You can still enjoy your truck and pay to have some things done if that's what...
Thanks Floridianson, I'm working today and can't get to my truck; hence, your statement helps put me at ease today and keeps me from wondering all day.
So the safe action appears to be open "L", and pump grease into "K" until grease begins oozing out of "L". I hope I didn't already do damage to my M923 A1 by pumping grease into "K" without having "L" open. If anyone disagrees with this please let me/us know. Thanks as always.
I appreciate y'all's input, but are your replies based on personal experience, or did you read this somewhere like a TM? I ask because I looked for quite a while. I may have missed it. Also, it seems like I could pump grease into K until I see it oozing out, but that was the basis of my...
First, yes...let me state the obligatory "I have searched and I've read the TMs", but I still can't find out whether or not I just keep pumping grease into the front wheel grease fitting indicated on the attached photo until I see grease coming out of somewhere? I realize you pump most grease...
I found these at Grainger. I'm going to try one of them (Waiting a few days for delivery). The EPDM appears to be most similar to the OEM rubber rope, but I like the additional stretching of the neoprene. Good prices for 50'. The "rope" on my truck appears to be 1/4"...
I just installed the spin on filter kit from Scar59. Everything needed was included -- replacement gaskets, bolt, and a new spin-on filter. It took me about 30 minutes (mostly prep time -- rags, bucket, tools, etc.). When you install, make certain to use the correct thickness rubber gasket...
I like downshifting manually when coming to a stop whether I'm riding a motorcycle or driving a truck, but in a 5 ton with an automatic transmission there are times when one wants to stop faster than simply allowing the truck to gradually coast to a stop with your foot off the brake. It is times...
