What did you do to your deuce this week?

If it's a permanent modification, I'd look at van bodies. Also, XPS foam is great for insulation, inexpensive, and sturdy enough to use as doors/walls in the proper thickness, for semi-permanent applications.

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

So many people wanna be 'right', they neglect to realize that the objective is to educate and share understanding. A discussion without data/evidence/proof is pretty meaningless. I learned the FMTV lighting system is 12V, when I incorrectly assumed it was 24V like 'everything else', because I...

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Thanks for the clarification, haven't dived into their lighting circuits... No. LEDs emit light totally differently than incandescent bulbs do. Incandescent bulbs put out light across the visible spectrum, and the filter just blocks other wavelengths. An LED only puts out a narrow spectrum...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I dropped some coin on a 3/4" Milwuakee M18 impact.... Been slowly trying to build my tool collection back up after being homeless for years... Tried it on the deuce lugnuts... zipped them right off... 1400 ft lbs is no slouch, and since it's the ONE KEY, I can go into the app on my phone...

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Two things. You don't use white LED bulbs behind colored lenses. Those bulbs say they're 12V..... Does the LMTV use 12V wiring for its lighting?

My 934 was a different beast... Although, the last part was the same.. ;)

    PULL OUT CAMPER STAIRCASE

Only problem is, pulling them up while you're already inside.. I learned how fun it was to pull in the hard stairs every night, to secure access to the truck, from INSIDE the truck... :D These were the steel stairs, not the aluminum ones...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

So, I did a ghetto fix.... So, I didn't know why I was losing prime after sitting overnight.. turns out it's the throttle shaft seal .... and I toasted a starter after trying to crank so long. I don't have the time/money to replace the IP right now, and there's no point in doing 80% of the...

    M1102 + M1010

Ohhh.. duh....Yeah, I'm thinking you're comparing an equipped M1031 with an equipped M1010. I think you're right... I think it's the SECM box (without gen/components) that weighs around 800, and the M1010 box was around 1800 or so.. I know I did the math in another thread.... hah Edit: Found...

    M1102 + M1010

That curb weight for the 1031 is just for the cab/chassis, not including the SECM box, gen, compressor, welder, etc.

    Maryland Inspections and Registration Problem

There already is that letter, I know I've posted it numerous times, as have others. NHTSA basically said 'it's exempt, therefore complies'.

    Suggestion : A shop/tools section?

Lots of us are used to working on our own stuff, but not all of us are wise in the ways of tools, shop equipment, tips/tricks, etc. Maintenance is a huge part of the hobby, heh, and I think a section where we can talk about what tools we use, or answer questions that others have about the best...

    Wood chassis/frame shims

I guess that answers that question. It'd probably be about 3k lbs total, when finished.. maybe 4 tops... so should be just fine then. I might have some stops welded front/rear to stop any potential movement going uphill or emergency braking.

    Wood chassis/frame shims

OK, so, not sure if you noticed, but on quite a bit of equipment, including the deuces and 5 tons with beds and comm/electrical boxes, there's a strip of wood, usually ~1/2-3/4" thick, that is put between the frame rail, and the frame of the box/bed. I've been told a couple things, maybe some...
