What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

A couple things.. 1. That was already removed, so of course it's easy. You have to remove the intake in order to get to it when it's still on truck. 2. If the throttle shaft O-ring is bad, then the internals of the pump are probably not that far away from being toast as well, being that it's...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Found out my hard start issue wasn't because of the injector lines like I thought.. It's pissing fuel out of the side of the IP throttle shaft.... a known issue... about 2 drops a second...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Today I replaced a leaking injector, replaced a return line just in case, and adjusted the VRV so now my shifts are silky smooth at ~15 and ~30....

    M1031 Tire Choice

I'm a cheap bastard. I went with some nanking 887's I think they're called.. off road mud terrains.... and they were only ~130 a piece in 285/75/16...

Stick with DOT5 or go to DOT3/4

Here's what I got.... Not available right now, but will probably be back in stock soon... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C8720S8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Stick with DOT5 or go to DOT3/4

Older systems not designed for it can cause issues re: rubber seals/lines... DOT5 is hydrophobic, meaning it doesn't absorb water. So, any water, condensation, etc that makes it into the braking system, has no way out, and will generally pool at the lowest point. DOT3 is hydroscopic, and will...

Stick with DOT5 or go to DOT3/4

DOT3 if you're going to be using it infrequently and are going to change/flush it every year. DOT5 if it's a daily driver or you want less maintenance. Just IMO.. I intend on keeping it DOT5.... It usually runs around $60-70/gallon.. I got 6, 11ish oz bottles for ~$35 on Amazon not that long ago...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I used to live in Fredneck... and Smithsburg... I know all about the area.. I do miss it dearly... east coast mountains are entirely different from west coast mountains.... Kinda hard to articulate but they're different.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

VA Universal Citation: VA Code § 46.2-1045 (2013) § 46.2-1045. Sale of tires having cleats, etc., prohibited; studded tires excepted. No person shall sell to any resident of the Commonwealth a tire which shall have on its periphery any block, stud, flange, cleat, spike, or any other...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Studded tires are REQUIRED in some parts of the country... chains as well... depending on location/time of year/road conditions, etc. Aren't plastic/rubber studs still OK in DELMARVA?

    Ignition Lock Cylinder/Hot wire/Push-button start?

I don't remember the exact situation, but I basically duplicated the ignition switch, with 3 high current relays. 2 for ignition and 1 for accessory... with the already replaced relay for starter....and just had them actuated by 2 switches.. Top for run/start, bottom for accy. I edited the...

    Water Heater Stuff

With your budget.. yeah.. that's gonna be an issue. Most propane water heaters for RVs are somewhat like home water heaters. They maintain temperature in their small reservoir (usually 2-3 gallons), but are running constantly to maintain the temperature, even if you're not using it. You're...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Put it on a timer, turn it on an hour or 2 before you plan on heading out. It should be self-limited ~160*, so keeping it plugged in all night won't necessarily hurt anything, other than the additional wear. It's basically a hot water heater element, designed to be in a truck. You can also...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

What's the wattage of the heater? How is it regulated?
