Whats the reason behind motor oil in the fuel tank..?

I respect the study, and I had thought the Stanadyne reated 5th or so; but with that being said I think the engineers who made the IP (Stanadyne) would also know how to make the right kind of fuel additive...makes sense to me. I highly doubt the folks who made that study (remember, I'm not...

    Algea in the system??

My 5-ton has this problem. The bottom of the tank is covered in an inch of nastiness. Mineral spirits will not touch it, MEK has been sitting in there for 2 weeks with the fuel cap off. I will probably have to drop the tank, wash tank with water as stated earlier. The only thing is, this...

Whats the reason behind motor oil in the fuel tank..?

stanadyne, the maker of your IP makes an additive...performance formula and lubricity formula. I personally use the lubricity formula, but our church's bus just gets TC-W3 2 cycle oil. Of course, with your mechanical IP on your CUCV a quart every fill-up with your free brand new oil would be...

    tall and narrow tires

I want some of these on my 1998 Suburban, but my local dealer could only get the Coopers and they wanted $900 for 4!!! Of course, my dream tire is 9r16's XZL's...but they are probably untainable except for older, out of date stuff. Plus they are a very heavy tire. Those Toyo m55's are like a...

This is my top 10: 1. Add muffler (or re-plumb exhaust out the back) 2. Upgrade tires to super singles or 11r20's if you like duels (modern radials) 3. Add a reese style hitch to the back (and maybe to the front) 4. Primary fuel filter upgraded to a spin on with wix base and filter That is...

This truck is really a work of art! I've been to FOB Ironhorse and seen this truck first hand, it definately take some talent to get a truck to this point. My dad road with troutt for the first test drive with the air ride...we all want one now!

    6.5 detuned to a 6.2

You are right, I was mixed up! The 599 is the good block, the 506 is the bad one. Mine was the 506!

    6.5 detuned to a 6.2

Look at the casting number on the block, if it is a 6.5 and it is a 599 casting, I wouldn't bother rebuilding it. You can do a search for the what numbers a good block will have. I have a 6.2 totally rebuilt with my 6.5 IP and turbo on it and it runs great! Didn't bother to rebuild using my...

    Super single question

wouldn't 16r20's on hemtt wheels with the hubs slipped be fine or even 395's or 15.5's? More ground clearance and much better than the original tires.

    Motor Carrier Inforcement in Michigan

My historical plate won't fit in my glove box, so it is laying on the floor. I've had LEO behind me and I've never had a problem yet...hopefully some over-zealous motor carrier doesn't pull me over! With that being said, I do a pre-trip on my truck to make sure things are working.

has anybody dealt w/ indiantown gap?

I think the guy at Ft. Indiantown Gap is named Andrew, super nice guy...very helpful. I picked up a truck there. If it says fluids drained, chances are that they are drained. You better plan on towing/trailering that truck home. The more I get into this hobby the more I want to preview...

    m35a2 Fuel Fiter

I am purchasing all my filters from fleetfilter.com and they are good prices and I might as well order whole cases! They beat the price of any local place even with shipping added. I am getting a case of the 33512 secondaries, a case of the 51133 oil filters, a 24770 filter base and 2 33405's...

    Acceptable price for WMO

All I did was tell the guys at church to give me there oil when they change it, I've gotten plenty enough...plus a 55 gallon drum full! I also told the UPS man and he drops his off too, unless you burn really large quantities little amounts here and there add up! Also, siphoning the fuel out...

Well, I blew it up on the way home.

Sorry man! I know the feeling of having a junk engine sitting in a truck, it stinks. I know where some engines are around here in MI and where some are in Tucson, AZ...don't know of any where you are though.

Pics of Trip to Jack's Gov Surplus

I happen to be going to Jack's today to look around, only thing I'm interested in is a CUCV II grill guard and tow shackles...he probably won't have it and if he does he probably won't part with it; but I can at least have some fun looking around.
