Here is a link to Allisons current recommentaions which include the MT and HT series. It says that C4 Type fluids are no longer approved for on-highway transmissions (which the MT and HT are).

That may have been true years ago but fluids have come a long way. I have spent lots of time researching what the right fluids are and the resources I have talked to I would consider experts. Like engineers who have intimate knowledge of how these transmissions work.
I didn't want this to turn...
I'll upload the whole document later but like I said I spoke to Allison directly and they said it will work but it will shorten the life of the trans. Do what you want it's your money.
Take a look at their current recommendations. Only TES295 and TES389 approved fluids are recommended and they do not include 15w40. That is designed as an engine oil not transmission oil.
I have called Allison and asked. They explained why the military uses 15w40 and its not because its the...
HaHaHa
Were you trying to make a joke with that statement?
Doing what the military does will only cost you big money the down the road when it comes to fluids. They replace the engines/trans in these trucks with only 20k or so miles on them.
They used 15w40 in Detroit in my HEMTT. Anyone who...
Yeah, I was hoping to avoid ever doing that again.[emoji1] Hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.
Thanks for the offer. I'll let you know when it gets here.
Never even gave a thought to driving it home. Not worth the risk. I always expect that the truck needs some work but hope that it's not something major like a bad motor.
Hopefully you guys are right but I went back and looked at a few pictures one is worrying me. Especially with my luck.
This picture is from GP not the best quality but that looks scary.
Anyone have an idea what's going on there?
It was listed as "The engine could not be started. The batteries are missing.". Has anyone else ever won one listed this way?
I'm hoping that it will start up with a fresh set of batteries.
If you read my previous posts my luck buying non-runners hasn't been that great. :)
Hopefully it will...
That's awesome. No way I would have been brave enough to try that with mine. Especially since it had a bad engine.
Looking forward to hearing how the rest of the journey goes.
I searched all over and this is the cheapest option I could find. Almost $200.
I was hoping to find an NOS one but no luck.

When I won mine it was my first euc and it took about 6 weeks.
As for mpg you don't buy one of these with fuel economy in mind.8)
As arough estimate im getting between 3 and 4
