When in high school I worked for a man that had two 1966 ford twin screws one with a 250 with turbo the other with a 6-71 with out a turbo .The 250 pulled better . both had 4 speed main boxes and 4 speed auxillery behind it . They where old mine trucks before he had them he used them to haul...
I did not start this thread but this is what I have . 1967 M52A2 with 11.00 20 tires when it had the multifuel it ran good at 46 miles per hour now with the Mack 673 it runs about 39 MPH with the non over drive transmission . if I change to the over drive 6453 it will help some how much ? I...
When had to replace my switch in my M211 the local truck dealer had a new style in stock .I thought I might need one that could handle 24 volt in stead of 12 volts no problems it's been in about 10 years . I have seem them on Ebay also .
For $200 you have a good start take pictures . With used Cummins engines any thing is possible . one truck I drove had a 290 small cam It was very durable engine but a little slow .The owner pulled it to rebuild and turn up the power and found out there was no rebuild kit for it the engine was...
Adding a tank will help some .But your still running low RPM on the compressor . This could be a good time to buy a gas powered compressor to use at home and bolt in the bed for parades .
You might check each battery by them self . I turned off my m52a2 one day changed a tire went to restart and same thing . One battery went bad I was only getting 12 volts . I though I had a locked the engine because I had left the fuel pump on .
A PTO mounted to tight will give you shifting problems just something to watch for . After you are sure everything is good copper washers under the 6 nuts on the PTO will seal gear oil drips.
Replaced one axle boot with non zippered boot on my M52A2 axle seal was also replaced. I made this tool and it worked good it made the drum and hub easy to slide on and off and spin the hub when adjusting the bearings it stopped the hub from turning when tightening the bolts on the drive flange .
Might check some of the truck salvage yards around Albuquerque. I sold a m816 to a man named Mike and he said he had other 5 ton trucks this was a few years ago and I lost his number. Welcome to Steel soldiers.
