Hey Guys,
I recently picked up an M923A2 with the 8.3 Cummins. She runs well but smokes a bit (black smoke). I have noticed that my air restriction guage is always in the middle part of the yellow. Have reset it several times but always goes back. Since I just got it I thought for sure the...
Hey Guys,
I recently updated the side marker lights and tail lights on my M923A2 to the newer LED's. They look and work great....but...Today I finished up and put the front turn signals on and they quit blinking when I throw the blinker on. They just glow steady. Put the old style back on and...
Just found this thread...didn't know we had so much Green Iron in these parts. Just picked up a 5 ton M923 in Maryland with Garandfan ( thanks buddy!) and am itching to get out with it more. My Deuce is already acting jealous! :) Anyone meeting up any time soon? I live in Sagamore Hills and...
Yeah, I hace gone through several feet of tubing myself trying to flare my lines. It's enough to make a preacher kick in a stained glass window. As for my problem...the truck had been running for 15min with no problem. It did it when I was fish tiling her around a gravel gas rig road. Maybe...
Long story short I was having some fun in my M1008 when all the sudden it started making weird noises and almost sounded like I threw a belt. So I stopped the truck and shut it off. To my suprise the starter motor was engaged and I had no way to stop it. I popped the hood right away and tried...
Thanks to all you guys for your input! I am relieved to hear that its normal. I will try the coasting methode from now on. Thanks again for taking the time to educate me, much appreciated!
I have an M1008 and when I make a left or right hand turn on pavement the rear tires chirp. I know it's not from the massive amounts of power! LOL Is the rear axle supposed to always be locked?
Hey Bud, I want detailed pics of that oil cooler coming off!:lol: How about I just drop of my Deuce and you can do mine while you are at it!? Just messing with ya. Let me know if you work on it this weekend, I don't have much going on.....well, not that I have been told anyway! BTW, I...
The previous owner put an 8" lift on it and did a terrible job of extending the break lines. Anyone know where I can get longer brake lines (preferably braided). Right now there are rubber extensions on there and it looks rigged because they broke the mounting tabs on the frame. Want to do it...
Thanks guys! I orderd pads and calipers. $80 bucks a side. Needed new pads soon anyway. Gonna do the rear pads too. Anyone know if the rears are the 2.5 or 3.5 wide pads? I assumed 3.5 but not sure which to order
My M1008 pulls hard to the right even under normal breaking. I had a suburban that did that under emergency breaking but apparently that was normal for that year Suburban. I am guessing that something is up with my left front break for it to pull to the right like that. Anyone have any...
It was like that when I bought it. I was told it is an 8" Rough Country lift. I can only find a 6" lift on Rough Country's web site so I am not so sure it's an 8". No body lift under there. I do know that whom ever installed the kit didn't change out the pitman or steering arm so my turning...
I had just put in a new starter myself and the old bracket didnt fit. I just cut the old one down and drilled a new hole, worked out fine. Wish I would of known there was another bracket to be had!
Here's a picture of my M1008 with Humvee tires and my Deuce with 15.5's. Just in case you needed more motivation! Love em! And YES....the wheels are getting painted black!
I have a manual GP switch and it works great for me. I also had similar starting problems and replaced the IP and the thing runs perfect now. I also put in a 1/4" clear fuel line on the return line (top of IP) and i can always see when I have air in the system now. Really helped to find find...
My newest problem is that my heater only blows when on the HI setting. I had this problem on n Impalla SS once and if I remeber it was some kind of coil or resistor that was bad. Kinda new to these trucks and found that Deuces are MUCH easier to work on! Anyway, anyone have and suggestions...
