    CUCV Cold Weather Start Experince

Hot air, warm cylinders, and hot fuel are the keys to a happy starting 6.2 or any older diesel... While living at almost 9,000Ft elev in CO I went through 3 freeze plug heaters, 2 starters, and 2 batteries in one winter. I finally had to put a Kats tank heater (circulating coolant heater...

Occasionally my left turn signal indicator lights up

The GM system by design illuminates the turn signal on the side of the bad ground or short when a voltage irregularity is detected in the stop/turn lamps. Ive had this trouble for years and the only diagnosis method I have is to turn the park lights on and walk around checking for dead light...

CUCV 6.2 swap into K20, should I keep it 24 Volts?

The Ing coil wire will work for the 12v activation for the Inj pump, but as for the sending units... the water temp is fine from the gasser. but the 6.2 ran a heavier gauge sending unit for the added psi of the diesel. they are readily availible over the counter, just get the one for the gauge...

    M105A3 smaller wheel size question?

Buddy of mine had this problem some years ago with the military mechanic trailer (same class as the M105 trailer), he ultimatly got tired of changing the rings/split rims and constantly hunting military tires. So he dropped the trailer axle and some of the leaves, swung a 14b FF (14 bolt Full...

    M1009 Axle swap

Ok,,, Looked at your pics on a full size computor screen instead of my 2" phone. You have a 10 bolt front with 8 lugs, this was used in the later 80s on the 3/4 ton trucks. Likely you have 3:73 or 4:10 ratio. SO DO NOT PUT IT IN 4X4 untill the ratios are confirmed the same. (ok thats my...

CUCV 6.2 swap into K20, should I keep it 24 Volts?

Finding an engine harness or modding your painless harness will be far more rewarding down the road than trying to re-engineer a 12/24 system. I understand having multiple 24s on hand, but if the K20 is 12, leave it be... it will be far easier to find parts for locally than special ordering or...

    M1009 Axle swap

Looks like gm 10 bolt front, rear, i cant tell untill i get back to my coputor in the morning. How many lugs , 10 bolt will have 5 (early) 6 (later) 10 bolts are called such by having a round diff cover with 10 bolts, they can be rear or front. Gm ran a 12 bolt trucke rear that had 6 lugs...

5ton trucks for wildfire watertender service

The placard on the dash is likely what the trooper will use against you with the weight shown on the portable scales as directly related to his ticket book. My 816 weighs 19 tons or 36k lbs. Dragging my dozer that number is around 60k. My cdl and insurance, and tags are legal at that weight...

5ton trucks for wildfire watertender service

looked into this about a year ago and found I didnt have the time or the money to play the contractor game. As a wildland FF I would somewhat have the inside, but the red tape of gov/state contracts is painful to say the least. A local company here in the hills is Bill Paulton- Paulton...

    CUCV Manual transmission

you can, but usually it requires running a really long line under the bellhousing over to the passenger side where the bump on the bell is huge and usually interferes with the passenger side exhaust/starter/ and front driveshaft. I used the clutch master from an 86-91 chevy (with assoc pedal...
