We use 24 series batteries in our deuces mainly because they are cheap. They hold up over time and we can get 3 in the battery box. The third one is for the auxillery 12volt system.
I would replace your filters if you haven't yet. You need to anyway. You also may want to check the hose on the intank pump. They can crack and leak or loosen up. This is sometimes a warning the hose is about to tear loose. and that will leave you stranded somewhere.

Does the seller still have the original wheels and tires. You could always put them on and head out after a good PMCS. If you have a good backup vehicle, if it were me I would drive The CUCV. But then again nobody has ever accused me of having too much sense.:driver:
