The only thing that i would worry about jacking the trailer up like that is, to me, that trailer is sail. I would be willing to bet the wind pushes pretty good on the side of it and to mention it has to be a little top heavy. Yes you would get your pin height but the center of gravity on the...
I agree with you on the N/A engine.
Well thinking about it, the deuce has a 3.5" exhaust and the engine is around 475 c.i (I think that is close) That is the same size exhaust that the 5.9 (359c.i.) Cummins uses in the dodge pickups. Actually 3.5" i think is the stock size for most factory...
Has anyone increased the size of the exhaust on a deuce? maybe to a 4 or 5 inch header/turbo back would help decrease the EGT's and make it less susceptible to high EGT's
That is the idea of an exhaust brake. Have the valve in the exhaust. I was thinking of having the valve on the intake tube so that in a runaway situation you could hit the switch and the valve would shut cutting off all air flow to the engine. Basically doing the same thing as putting a piece...
Ok, I guess what i would like to know is, would this work? Is it even a possible solution for not having to jump out of the truck and knock off the air cleaner, and slam a piece of wood over the intake? It seems like this happens in these colder temps more often and i would think something that...
Yeah that truck is off of highway 2 that we drive down to go dirt biking and 4 wheeling. WE have seen them rebuild it from the ground up over the past 4 or 5 years. Quite a sight to see it all together.
Yeah seriously. I would carry a CO2 extinguisher for that purpose as well as the block of wood.
I wonder if it would be possible to install an electric solenoid valve on the intake pipe to cut the air flow from the cab.
Something like this maybe...
Well with trans in forward gear the driveshaft will want to turn to the right. If the driveshaft doesn't turn, (foot on the brakes) or there is a load on, the engine and trans are going to try and torque a little in the direction that the shaft is turning. So, in forward gear the engine will...
I was going to say, that looks like an old deuce. Climbed around on an old fire truck deuce. I think it was 1955. It had that high/low, two speed allison automatic in there too. Cool lookin' trucks, just wish they had a manual trans.
So will proper pressure in the cooling system. ;-) a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water i believe will raise the boiling temp to 265* and a 70/30 will raise it to 275*
Has anyone put an exhaust brake on a deuce? I was wondering because with the deuce brakes not being as good as full air brakes, and the engine alone not being very beneficial to compression braking, I thought maybe an exhaust brake would help slower them down a bit more.
Any opinions...
