    M916 and Allison HT4070

Mine would run about 70 mph before the 53" tires, now it will do a it +. I believe the cost of the HD 4070 SP would make it cheaper to trade trucks. I'll look tomorrow to see if there is any thing moved (transfer case, etc.)

    Estimate fuel costs or shipping?

If you have a truck that you have driven some & are confident with it's readiness I say do it. I have a number of 2000 mile round trips doing recoveries. All of these were in a 915 or 915a1 getting 6 or 6.5 mpg, And have yet to have a on the repair required on the trip. Did 1200 miles in a...

Saw a five ton towing a 2.5 ton in alabama yesterday...

It always looks worse to the people in the back of the towed truck. And 70 mph in a m927 towing a m923 makes that m927 the worlds fastest m927.

M915 with push button Allison &air ride cab

I did not use any ballast on the tow A1 and felt I did not need it. I have towed heaver when ballast was desirable. The A1 on 24's tops out 74/75. So I was able to run the speed limit or less depending conductions. I realize many will thing this is to fast but it felt right. The advantage to...

It was too late last night for pictures Ray (long day on the road). The truck is an AM General M915 mfg. in 1979 not an A1. The transmission is a Allison 4500sp, the rears are still rockwells, the AC is sanden, the seat is elcamino not bostrom, & the cab ride is made by Link in Iowa. There...

Catastrophic Ibis Tek tow bar failure; snapped like a twig.

It is possible to open and close the angle causing the gear teeth out of synch, causing the eye to be offset. Which would change the loading and stress. As I said earlier I have used this model a lot. Looks as though the weld may not have had enough penetration or enough weld material.

Is there a new FL law about tags

I believe it says regardless of age for military trucks. You must send form HSMV83045 to Tallahassee.
