    glow plug card repair

You said recently having problems... did they work before? Did you make any changes right before the problem started? Did you check the arrangement of the wiring? The TM contains a mistake and if it's wired up as the TM says, the glow plugs will not function. The small orange wire, which tells...

    Very odd m1028

Ok, we need pics of the box to make a positive ID, but it definitely has the 1010 charging system. The AC compressor is for the box, either commo or ambulance, not for the cab. Does the truck have bucket seats or a bench? Later, Joe

    CUCV Rims fit

Any pre-Superduty Ford truck rims should fit the Dodge just fine. Most GM wheels do have the smaller center hole and won't fit a Ford or Dodge. I'm surprised that the CUCV wheels fit, but it is interesting information to keep filed away. Later, Joe

    Glow Plug Control Card

Hi Chris, You need to upload your file as an attachment, not an [IMG tagged hyperlink... the pic will help someone get you the value of the component that blew. Sorry to hear that you're still having problems from Advance Auto's boneheads behind the counter. Later, Joe

    Very odd m1028

Sounds like one of the 1010 style charging systems or an entire 1010 that's been gutted... pics would help a LOT... Pics of the box, the alt that's there, and all the trouble spots that you have found. And yes, it has been butchered, there should be two LEECE alts, not one. Is there an AC...

    buying a 5 ton Wrecker

Both of these are 100% accurate for a M816. Flat towing with 36k lbs empty weight is a slow, arduous affair and stopping isn't much better. I use my wrecker at least once a month as a crane for either myself or my friends. If it runs and operates, $5k is a really good price. Later, Joe

M1009 Blazer side window with sliding glass

There was a PS article about the sliding windows listing part numbers so some units were able to order and install the windows at the unit level. I never saw a 1009 in service with the windows, but then I was AF and the trucks were mostly in the Army. Later, Joe

Got to drive 1,600 miles for 1.5 miles of railroad

Sweet deal... Just out of curiosity, what did you do for trailer lights? Later, Joe

    Ugh i rolled her!

Glad you made it through ok... sounds like it was quite the ride. I would recommend finding a residue truck with a good chassis/body from GL and swap all of your good pieces over to it. I rebuilt my 1009 from an engineless hulk and a wreck with a good engine. Plus, if it went over, your axles...

What insureance do you have on your m1008 0r m1009?

USAA here, I told them it was a 1986 Chevy Blazer and that since it was sold to the .gov that the VIN is a little different. She found it in the system with no problems. Later, Joe

    Rerouting Heater Core Inlet Hose

My stock 1009 will start throwing warm air on high fan after about 5 minutes and will be hot enough after 15 that I need to turn the temp down to 3/4 to keep from roasting. This is with an outside air temp of around 20* or less. When it was below 0* here last month, it took a little longer to...

True expected glow plug voltage when WTS is on

Your other option would be to bypass the resistor block with a dedicated wire running from the big buss bars on the passenger's side with a 70A fuse. Later, Joe

    M939/A1/A2 ABS vs. Non-ABS Trucks

In your search for ABS parts, I need a new ABS module for my 936 if you happen to come across one. The Army robbed the one off of mine before it was released. Later, Joe

    CUCV's banned in WI

This has been an ongoing problem with WIDOT and has been discussed in several threads here and on several other MV boards. Basically WIDOT has cancelled all HMV titles/registrations because the vehicles 'do not meet DOT standards' because they do not have a FMVSS and are therefore 'not for on...

    strech 816 into 819?

I haven't seen anything from the OP stating that he wanted the rear winch to remain after the conversion (or maybe he does, I don't know) I would say to sell the M816 and find a M819 instead if that's what you want. I know where at least one is here in CO that would be available for sale...

True expected glow plug voltage when WTS is on

The resistor bank is dropping the voltage like it's supposed to, you need to bypass the resistor block by connecting it to the 12V buss. If you are blowing the 40A fuse, you need to replace it with a correct fusible link. A fuse blows too fast during the initial current inrush as the glow plugs...
