    shorted out starter? disassembled pictures

If cranking the motor by hand doesn't work, look at the ring gear. You may have bent/stripped something.

    split rims

So the bead needs to be broken around the ring for the ring to come off... I wish I knew that about three days/two screwdrivers ago...

    split rims

Someone explain to me the process of disassembling split rims. I thought I had it figured out on dissasembly, but these do not want to come apart. Am I doing something wrong? The tire is deflated COMPLETELY (bad tube), I ran oil along the ring where it splits apart, started hitting it with a...

    602 carburetor upgrade

Let me know how that works. I might make the investment if it works good.

    602 carburetor upgrade

Somewhere out there, in the vast deep of video game sites and pop-up ads :banghead: , I think I remember dredging up some kind of discussion about a carburator upgrade for a 602. I didn't pay much attention at the time :nono: , but now I seem to be interested in such a device. IIRC, it was...

    fuel tanks

Just wondering, are the deuce fuel tanks the same as the five ton ones? Mine has a bunch of holes in it from someone letting it set for years with water in it... [:(!]

So should i get a Deuce?

I don't think it's a question of "Should I get a deuce" but more or less "Am I willing to tolerate a deuce"

    changing compression ratio on 602

Well, oddly enough, my M-54 was "converted" to 12 volts. When I say "converted", I mean a 12 volt distributor from who-knows-where, and all the other stuff is still origional. Starts, runs, and charges off of 12. though. I keep seeing these points-eliminator things, and have been thinking of...

    5 Ton Tips & Tricks

Alright, I'll break the ice on this one. When installing an air ride seat, remember that the usual big rig has a higher steering wheel than a 5 ton, so be careful what you buy, because although setting it as low as possible may make worlds of difference, be careful not to spend too much, because...

    Knuckle boot question.....

Don't quote me on this, but I believe that a halfway grease-halfway oil goes into the boots, not 90w. As far as clamp tightness, I am not sure. Someone else is bound to pipe up.

    air ride seat

As far as installation is concerned, it was very simple. Bolt to floor, run air line. Done. Where I got it? My dad brought it home from work because it was going to get torched and scrapped. He works at a Ford Truck dealership, and they scrap all sorts of perfectly good stuff. A customer had a...

    air ride seat

I finally got me a air ride seat for my M-54. Got it bolted in, working on hooking up air and seat belts. I'm thinkin it will make a serious difference :hop: I'd post pics, but I have none. I might take some later, we'll see.

    Air horns

I put a horn off a boat on my five-ton. It's like a big-rig horn, only about a foot longer and quite louder...

    changing compression ratio on 602

This is starting to sound like an idea. I may look into purchasing another set of heads, and at sometime having them milled, so that if/when headgasket time comes around, put them on and see what happenes...

    Power divider

My M-54 has an engage and disengage switch. I was told in another post that this is a modification used to reduce wear on the sprags when towing. On mine, "engage" means 6x6.

    My 5-ton pics!!

Here is one of the pics of my 5-ton. I finally got the stupid Kodak CD, but this is the only one I can upload. I will try again later on the other two. P.S. Try not to get to mad about the color selection... [^]

    changing compression ratio on 602

What exactly would be the procedure needed to have the compression ratio on the 602 brought up to, say, 8-8.5 to 1? What valve modifications would be necessary? What could be the predictable performance gains? How likely is it that I would be capable of destroying a perfectly good engine by...

    turbo 602?

Alright, two different things to wonder on: Milling the heads: Who would I take these to in order to have this done, how much would it cost? If compression is at 6.4:1, wouldn't taking it up to 8-8.5:1 require the least engine modification? The valves are the adjustable type, so, assuming...
