Deuce crash in Winston-Salem, NC, 11/2017

Previous tickets, especially dismissed ones, cannot, per law, be used against someone to determine fault or guilt on a current matter. This is called prejudice. if I flip a quarter 4 times, and 3 times it comes up heads, what's the probability of the next flip being heads? If you know...

Deuce crash in Winston-Salem, NC, 11/2017

I dunno about NC, but I've seen enough cases in the few times I've had to be in court, that if you show up in court with reg/insurance/etc they usually look at it as 'lesson learned' and toss it. If this is the case, it does nothing to discourage the behavior. They have nothing to lose, because...

Fun with PA DOT officer ending in putting me out of service + $1200 in fines

Yup.. I hated MD.... Full size pickup towing a trailer with lawnmower and weedwhacker and OMGZ all **** breaks loose, but 80 y/o grandma driving a converted MCI pushing 45ft and near 50k lbs and she's just fine on her regular license she's had since the 60's....

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

For all those 'keep it stock' people... Remember, just because 'it's always been done that way' or 'that's the way it was designed', doesn't mean it's the right or best way... It's one thing if it's a museum piece, but as a daily driver, reliability is more important than originality, IMHO...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Except, if it's your resistor, you're gonna toast those glow plugs in short order as well....

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Not a problem with the relay. The resistor uses its own resistance aling with the resistance of the glow plugs to reduce voltage to 12v. ANY variance in the glow plugs or the resistor will cause either low voltage, which means higher amps and burnout, or higher voltage and burnout....once one GP...

Fun with PA DOT officer ending in putting me out of service + $1200 in fines

This is Bravo Sierra..... When I drove my M934 from Ft. Bragg to Seattle, I specifically called my state's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (WA)...Which said that private = private = NO CDL.... I then called every state in my planned drive back, NC, VA, W.VA, MD, PA, and they ALL said that if I...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Fri. was my first 'real' test for my mods, batts having sat for a couple months without charge, using my batt disconnect switch to remove ANY draw from ANY system..... and testing the O-rings I changed out on my fuel pump in terms of there not being any leaks causing a loss of prime..... I...

Voltmeter - mapping voltages to markings

I originally bought 2 similar to that one but fully encased, but opted for the round one instead. Round holes are easier to drill :p

    Ignition Lock Cylinder/Hot wire/Push-button start?

Personal preference, really. If you can wire something simple like I did, it shouldn't be a problem. This I will disagree with 147%... Modifying isn't 'hacking into'.... Yes, there are idiots, but then there are people who design their modifications, and do so with reliability in mind. My...

    Ignition Lock Cylinder/Hot wire/Push-button start?

Had a guy I know whose light switch went out on him.... Seems everyone has problem with those electronic switches... I'm thinking they were only designed to run with LEDs and people are running them with incandescent bulbs.

    Ignition Lock Cylinder/Hot wire/Push-button start?

I removed the entire switch... ... Then used a voltmeter to check outputs at each position. I did have to remove the steering wheel to remove the locking pawl.....

    Ignition Lock Cylinder/Hot wire/Push-button start?

I isolated Ign 1 and Ign 3 because it created a loop where the alternator was keeping the fuel solenoid actuated, not allowing it to turn off, hah. Make sure you do the same. For what you want, sounds something like this... https://www.amazon.com/KDL-Ignition-Switch-Carbon-Toggle/dp/B012NDSVS4/
