Too many Soccer games Sat and my boy had a bike ride Sunday on Pleasure Island. Maybe next year!
DarwinT, Forgetting a couple is understandable but.......Marti Gras Port Arthur, Galveston, NOLA?!? Then there's Blues fest, Janis Joplin's birthday, ......etc., etc., Laissez le bon temps...
It's a PITA to check, but with checking the condition of the rubber on the hamonic balancer, make sure the balancer hasn't broken the key on the crank. I'm pretty sure the front pully on the crank will have to come off, then you'll have to find a way to look down the "key way". My key broke...
Any info would be great. Thanks for this thread and all the help!!

From what little I've been able to find, it's last home was with the 1st Army Div...
I'm about to dive into a GEN 2 light issue this weekend. All week I've been researching this and having run into several KISS situations, I'm going to start at the light socket contacts. Thanks for reinforcing this for me!!!!
Body parts/repair panels, for 80's model Chevy's are fairly easy to find. The parts are, for the most part reasonable, it's the shipping costs that kept me from ordering them. $28 for a front feeder well, $120 for shipping. I finally found a local source and now the $28 part cost $28+ tax!!!
The story starts like this. I was finally released from jury duty last Wednesday, made one stop along the way home, then got ready to return to work. Got in my M1009 and went to crank it but all got was a "wwwrrrrrrrrrr"(great fun typing out a sound). It wasn't quite a free starter sound but...
Finally did the conversion on my m1009 yesterday. Did I NEED to to it? The OEM relay looked like it had been replaced recently, but I've experience several of the CUCV specific hiccups, so why take a chance on this relay. I've battle the swollen glow plugs, watched the resistor pack smoke...
If you think you have air in the lines, don't forget to bleed the injectors also. Just crack the lines where the enter the top of each injector. 3/4" wrench.
I was finally able to get the old motor on the stand and open it up for some pics. The first two are shots of the crank, where it broke behind the #1 & 2. The third pic is what's left of the balancer key way.
Blaze ( I know it's not original, my daughter named it) stretched it's legs and new...
I'm voting for camo! My m1009 is that way and I like the way it sticks out. I'm also siding with Dieselbob, when I get around to a new paint job it will be the MERDC 4 color!!
Naw, I was halfway through a tanks cycle. I've been real careful as I've seen several people pick up the wrong "green handle" and pump in Gas. Thanks though for sending out your two cents worth!!
Evening before last tried to bleed the air out of the fuel system, but couldn't get any fuel out of the fuel filter bleed valve. Last evening I broke out the "redneck credit card" (I know you're not supposed to do it, I'm hard headed I've been told) and syphoned from the tank to the lift pump...
With a harmonic balancer puller, the thing comes off easy. The removing of the stuff in the way and getting it back on correctly...........more of a pain. It was a WHOLE lot easier with mine, as the motor was out. I will ditto Dave, "when in doubt, replace it".
Motor, I've not a clue what...
Billy, copy that! That's what I kind of figured, but I thought I'd get some "informed" opinions. I hope to have pics of the damaged crank, etc., in a couple of days. As soon as I can get the old engine on the stand and get it flipped over, I'll post them.
Thanks again for the info/feedback...
Well the replacement motor is in! I went ahead and put a new balancer on and replaced the motor and trans mounts with poly. Shouldn't be just a few more days before the Blazer is making PROPER noise again. The culprit? Look at the balancer pic. The key was sheared flat.......so did this...
Just did this to my M1009. Fel-Pro's instructions make it really easy, they even print "outside" on the side of the seal that goes toward the outside. Make sure you follow what "camogriz" says, put the RTV in the groove toward the outside(air side). Good luck!!
