Boy I really need to thank Lance for that adapter! I found some for $40.00 plus shipping here in Indiana.

Hope this helps you out.
I was just wondering about this truck. Is it in the dumpster yet?
Or have you calmed down and now have it finished?
I have never attempted a build like this. Probably because I KNOW that I would have put it in the dumpster by now!
But I hope that you are a much calmer man than I...
Did you tell them what you were hauling? All the U-haul dealers here and other rental companies would not allow me to use their trailers to haul a 5/4 ton truck,
And before you say,"Why tell them?", consider what your liabilty would be if you had problems. In my advanced age I am finally to the...
Hawkman, I understand that you are in the business of selling. And from what I have seen, you supply good and sometimes hard to get parts that have helped many people. But, as I understood the original post, this was one friend selling to another friend. And as a friend, I would not expect...
I was given one free from one of the SS members here when I found that GL had "modified" mine with their handy forklift.;-)
I just paid shipping costs. So I'd agree that $10.00 would be fair!
I left the 2" x 6" bars at the original length. If you look at the tubes on tlm's setup, you see that he cut just one side of the tubes. But the loops on the AZ towbar are bigger than the one tlm used. So I cut both the top and bottom of the tube to allow free up and down movement of the bar...
Sorry that link didn't work. Let's try this one.

Also, if you read my post of how I towed my 1008 644 miles thru the mountains from Ft. Mead, Md to west central Indiana, then you know that it can be done and...
Depending on how many miles the truck you buy has, you may not NEED a rebuild. My 1008 had only 43,XXX miles on it and is the quietest 6.2 I have ever owned. Remember that these engines are noted for long miles with only the occasional IP and maybe injector rebuilds. Treated with a little...
I towed my 1008 from Ft Mead to home, 644 miles on a towbar. See this thread
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?t=25643
There are links to the towbar ideas there also. It also talks about not being able to rent a trailer big enough, nor a tow dolly big enough for the 1008. You also...
A diesel starter should spin faster than a gasser IMHO. And the slower the starter, the harder it starts in my experience. I had a 'burb diesel that gave me fits when I first got it. After I got a GOOD starter in it I never had problems in several years of use. Of course it was the SECOND...
Yeah mine had the GL driveshaft mod and they broke the Tranny to T-case adapter also. Anyone with driveshaft damage should check the adapter also in my opinion. The adapter, being bolted in, takes a LOT of the pressure.
