Have a running M925A1 in Richmond,VA needs to go to Miami, FL

Low mile/hour M925A1 truck needs to leave Richmond, VA and come down to Miami, FL. Working out the finances as I speak. Truck obviously has never (if at all) been run. I would be hesitant to do a shakedown trip thats over 900 miles long. Anybody with a trailer coming back empty? I am...

    What model Genset is this?

Thanks, I have one, I am going to see if I can get to the extremes. You gave me an idea though, maybe a steam cleaning or maybe putting in a cleaning solution like formula 88 and setting the tank on a hot plate. I think the heat will help loosen crud up. If I find out how many baffles there...

    What model Genset is this?

OK, got the tank out. have about 1/2 inch of crud or sediment on the bottom. Looks like I may have to cut it open to clean it or just go to an outboard tank. anybody know if these tanks have baffles inside? I can cut a hole to do a proper cleaning job, but I will need to make it big enough...

] I am pretty sure they need to be flashed... it was not until recently (so I hear) that the new AC gensets did not need that... Either way, fuel tank needs to come out... there is about 1/2 inch of mud or a close relative thereof that is lying on the bottom of the tank waiting for a loss of...

    What model Genset is this?

Well Peter, thank you for steering this wandering ship back on course. I , for one, am grateful someone cares about my insufficiencies, yet as I speak, I have a habit of digressing, meandering and sometimes even forgetting what I was talking about... now... where was I... oh yeah, I...

Just keep repeating to yourself... I am not the only one depressed about this... I am not the only one depressed about this... etc. does not really help, but as Irving Greasemanowitz used to say... couldn't hurt!;);)

(And I can't read *p o s t s* easily because of the lack of contrast between the letters and the background!) Peter, for once, I found a kindred soul that admits not seeing all or missing much of what is on this site... Site builders, being 20 something, have no clue that some of us "seasoned"...

    What model Genset is this?

Thanks Peter. Looks like the meter that is missing has been missing for a while. Doing basic mechanical service stuff right now... filters, etc. Have to figure out a way to make the pump-fuel injector steel lines... these do not look like they will hold for very long. Will look further for...

    What model Genset is this?

Well, so far , so good... dumped some of the "stuff" in the tank... looked like slightly thicker, darker diesel, sort of dark red/brown with yellowish foam at the top, but very oily. Ran the primer pump for a few minutes, then cleaned it all the way up to the injectors... (going to have to find...

    What model Genset is this?

I plan to separate the tank from the skid, replace the filters and then try to clean the tank as well as the lines. I suspect that since the pump is electrical, as soon as I clean the tank and loosen the lines, I can pump clean diesel (mixed with marvel mystery oil) up to the IP until it looks...

I think tank dumping and cleaning is a must do... will see what is in there and what it takes to get it out. I just have never seen diesel... smell like that... thanks for the tip

    What model Genset is this?

That would be great to actually work it backwards, that way I could find out what it is and how it is supposed to work... I am not in a hurry, and would truly appreciate your help in getting it doing what it is supposed to do... make electricity... BTW, was the D198 a multifuel? I stil annot...

Awesome... but as Clint Eastwood said once... a man must know his limitations.... If you can give me a heads up on doing that, it would be much appreciated. I sure as heck don't know how.

    What model Genset is this?

I thought about that... but it is a 12 wire genset and the freq meter on the panel works centered at 60hz... but the "bright guy" that painted the unit previously had no idea that the wire numbers on the gen output could be so important... so now I have to see if I can see where the wire tags...

I agree on most, but looking at the solid state rectifier bridge that I see and the electronics in the system, I would date this at somewhere in the 80's if not 90's man. date. Can anyone ID the motor? Is it Hercules, Deere, Cummins... etc? At least with that, I can begin to find info. Thanks

Thanks... going to dump the fuel in the tank, check for damaged wires and connnectors... juice it up... and do a "smoke" test...... can only hurt so much...
