tired gluing mass loaded vinyl on the exterior inner fender area up front. used loctite PL 8x and used just a couple peices on one side straight vertical to see if it would hold.
it did not so I pulled it off and cleaned the area back up and will test 3m high strength spray adhesive on it tomorrow.
no picture but you have to remove the peice that the top of the dog house fastens to there are maybe 6 or 8 Phillips and than 3 nuts and bolts under the hood. knowing that should help you find the peice I'm talking about. all the empty space behind that shield is just a echo chamber.
very similar I am also using kilmat and was thinking about doing almost the same thing with the dog house cover but going dog house/kilmat/stock rubber/MLV/foam
may have to put the MLV behind the rubber as it's heavy but would like to put in front.
today I added kilmat to the valve covers, back...
Did some more sound deadening work today installed horse mat on the tunnel, bed, and one rear floor mat. Gonna need another 6x4 sheet if I don't want a bunch of little pieces on the floor mats.
Also used a dynamat like product on the oil pan and bell housing will see in the morning on cold...
I know the tranny fluid is correct and full as I changed it.
the power steering on the other hand could be the wrong fluid as I have not change that and I got it from someone not a military base.
I see there appears to be a reservoir on the top with a sight glass and the fluid is above that level.
Was going up a hill which was really steep maybe 60% grade/angle (90% being straight up and down). I noticed some noise from the engine compartment kind of thinking it is power steering related but got leveled out and the noise continued. Decided to drive home about 10 mins away and the noise...
Both 65's and 31's fit under the seat (I have 65's in mine) but I hear the 31's just barely make it from another member on here but I'm sure you can't use the factory hold down with either that's why I was curious if you could with the 24's.
If I was willing to spend the money I'd personally...
I haven't pulled the positive on the back side of the battery box yet raining outside today but I'll make sure I do and clean it up.
drove around some more and let it get good and warm then checked voltage at alt and battery and had 28.8v so just kind of random at this point.
well not out of the woods yet.
so started the humvee and let her warm up and then picked up some stuff around town, I noticed that the voltage gauge no longer flutters its rock solid like all the other gauges. when I got home I checked the voltage at the batteries and got 25.1v
I shut it off...
ya you got me thinking I cleaned the ground on the starter and on the alternator but not what feeds the battery box area and I was able to track it down with the multimeter.
I think I found the problem
I have 28.8v at the bolt with the arc marks behind it but only 26.7v at the block behind it.
bolt was to loose which is why it was arcing at some point im sure. Pulled the bolt and cleaned up the cable, bolt, and block.
now I got 28.8v at the batteries will have...
looking at the metal tags between 2a and 568 is where I get 17.7v and between 568 and 68a is where a get 13.1 all on the regulator.
I cleaned most of the vehicle grounds when I got it including the one on the alt and starter but I'll look over all the connections a little more.
Had both batteries tested this morning and both checked out good. the lower voltage one had 940cca and the higher voltage one had 1050cca both were warm and charged last night.
swap the battery positions in the box and drove it around this morning and checked them again with the humvee running...
the CEO of AM general said this about the humvee "It’s essentially bulletproof to EMP"
but I never seen any testing.
if I would worried about it I would just park it in a machine shed with a grounding cable on the outside tin.
I'm gonna pull the batteries tonight and top them off on the charger than tomorrow I'll have them both tested. Batteries are less than 5 months old if one is bad I'll try to have it replaced as it looks to have a 2 year warranty but I didn't purchase them.
Battery specs listed from fleet farm...
something is wrong with the batteries.
I just drove it about an hr ago and the top battery is at 12.3v while the bottom battery is read 13v.
the wires mid way through have me worried not sure if that's right or not but it's how I bought it.
