M923A2 regulating the modulator on the radiator fan..

My M923A1 (different engine)has to hit 195 for the fan to kick on and it doesn't have to run for long. Also as long as the truck is moving it rarely needs the fan. I'm in TN and unless its 90degrees + and or I'm pulling a grade it just doesn't get hot enough. If your truck isn't breaking...

M923 upgrade to M925 need advice

Thanks for the heads up Beerslayer. I am in deep now, now way to turn back, I was hoping to get away with dropping the transmission to add the PTO. Will have to take it one step at a time. If any other nuggets of info come to mind, let me know. Thank You

    School me...

What swbradley1 said, its well suited to the task at hand, and for your Tacoma. Price seems fair if its in good shape. If you take care of the trailer you could even have a good resale value especially if you keep the bows and canvas in good shape. trailer is pretty simple, shouldn't need much...

M923 upgrade to M925 need advice

Thanks for your feed back, I noticed another active thread about dates on data plates. Between what your telling me and Carnac's comments on the other threaf, it looks to be a big no no on swoping plates, and it appears upgrades were not common at all. I can only base that on your comment...

M923 upgrade to M925 need advice

Should I just swap the data plates when I move the winch? Wouldn't that conflict with the numbers on the frame? Or is the data plate it for ID?

M923 upgrade to M925 need advice

I need advice, in staying with military standards... I have a 1986, M923 in great shape that I want to put a winch on. So I purchased a M925 on the cheap that has rust cancer on several parts of the bed and cab and mechanically it is not up to par with my M923, so I plan on moving the winch...

Loadout questions fr Spart and Indianapolis

Thanks Hmmwvenut, adding an M925 to my collection. This makes # 2 for my addiction and my third recovery. Next time I'm going to look for something older and smaller.

Loadout questions fr Spart and Indianapolis

Indianapolis appears to be a truck center and not a military installation on Google maps. Can anyone confirm this? I'm doing a recovery there in the morning.

    indianapolis to northern new jersey

Hopefully Bob had a good time at the gun show over the weekend. From what I gathered on our call Friday he is on the GL yard in Indianapolis today with a few inspections. The GL worker said he's up there quite a bit, these fellow steel soldiers are priceless when it comes to buying sight...

Realistic "city use" payload of M927 extended wheelbase truck

I haul gravel in an M929 (short wheelbase same truck) and weigh in at 44,000lbs. Having driven dump trucks and semi trucks a lot, i feel comfortable at that weight but no more. Just know your stopping distance is going to increase a lot. At that kind of weight there are no emergency stops...

M923 truck Sparta WI to Connecticut

Your in a good spot if Jeff is helping you, he'll hold it until you find shipping. Do a search for a truck hiking service. If its drivable a hiker will drive to base, attach their car to the hitch and drive it to you. Fuel is $1.00 a mile now so this would be an expensive option but an option...

    Newbie GL question about firearms

My father hikes trucks around the country and frequently has to drive into shipping ports for trucks sold to overseas. While not a military base they are a "Gun Free Zone". So far he has been able to lock his weapon in a case and check it at the guard shack with no problem. I don't see any...

    5 ton in driveway?

4" concrete with fiber over 3" of gravel. I drive the 5ton over my parking area weekly for the past year with no problems. I have had concrete begin to pop under me in a utility pole truck. It's loud and will startle you until you realize what's happening. I would dig a small hole next to...
