loss of power. lots of smoke.

There isn't a boost tube- no turbos on these trucks... A leaky lift pump is an issue that could show symptoms of hard starting, I don't think that it is causing the smoke issue though.

loss of power. lots of smoke.

How is the oil level, and does the oil look normal?

    diagnose-help please

I could not get mine to fire on WD-40..maybe I didn't use enough. Best to just fix the glow plug system.

Here is one example, there are more variations of course: [media]

6.2 oil pump drive rod failure

My engine has a steel shaft/rod- no nylon involved anywhere. It is one piece.

6.2 oil pump drive rod failure

It may just be me- but I would not feel comfortable trusting the pump to be good even if it passes a drill test. It may not show you that a screw went through the pump and the gears in the pump are all chewed up even though it is still sort of working.

6.2 oil pump drive rod failure

If there was that much stress on the rod- wouldn't that indicate that the oil pump might be jacked up? I think you should pull the pan and look at the pump first.

re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

When I did mine, its a MEP-005A, I cut the bus bar on the bottom where ALL of those wires are.... I removed some and pushed some out of the way- and then used a Dremel tool with a very small cut off disk to cut the bus bar in place, I just removed the small picece from the T12 area. I broke 2 or...

    TH400 gone south

Could it be that the seller really just found a better offer? If you really liked the truck you may want to get a second opinion... What are the symptoms?

32000 miles or 132,000 What should clue me in on M1009

If you see any wear on the break pedal it has probably rolled over. Significant wear on the drivers seat- it should be obvious....

    Crank woodruff key install tips....?

You have to think positive thoughts and then everything will be fine! I personally would not let it bother me, it sounds like it is very minor.

Question on a MEP002 from the Electrically Ignorant

An electrician should have no trouble wiring a 50 amp rated receptacle to your generator. All you need a couple feet of cable (wire), a receptacle, and a ground rod with acorn. Keep in mind that most electricians don't know how to operate your generator- so you will have to figure that out. If...

    MEP004A Frequency Problem

The frequency gauge is powered by a transducer that is mounted in the panel behind the meter. The system has a reputation for not being very reliable. My guess is that the transducer has failed. But- check for voltage on it while running, ~120V on the input side, and check the wire connections...

    Mep-016d 240v

Just to reiterate what some have said- your house is "split phase, single phase". Your house voltage is derived from a 240V center tap transformer giving you 120/240. Now there is such a thing as two phase- it is nothing more than two hots and a neutral from a three phase system. The voltage...

re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

Good question- In this case its going to be all about if the windings and leads use a large enough wire to handle the current. The overload protection is there to protect the winding from too much current. I believe the over-current devices are set to 120% of rated load, so without changing...

re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

Very nice! I think that will clear up a lot of misunderstanding. A note- to put the generator back into 3-phase 120/208 all that you have to to is move the jumper wire connection point from T2/T8 back up to either N/T10/T11 and will be back to the factory original electrically.

    MEP006a won't stay running

It could be plugged fuels filters or the sock on the pick up line in tank as well. You need to find out if the protection system is what is shutting it down - it should give a light if so, but you never know with old equipment. If it shutsdown when running with the battlefield short "on" it is...

    MEP006a won't stay running

I take there are no shutdown indicator lights? Have you tried running it in battlefield short to see if keeps running?

re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

Deuce- You can not change 416V 3 Ph to 240V 1PH. You could get what looks like 240V Delta 3Ph by ignoring the neutral and turning up the voltage when the gen is set to Low Y, 120/208 configuration. Then use 3 transformers to convert 240 single phase to 120/240 split phase- but this only gets...

re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

The % rating that I am referring to would be 50-80% of 15KW, at sea level, with no derating in your senario. Now if your heatpump has a 10KW resistive backup heater like mine- you have to size your gen to at least 10KW plus ....You would need at least a 15KW if you plan on needing the resistive...
