Read a biography on him, amazing stuff.

I think he grew up in the Upper Midwest. I think he invented the earthmover, a tractor with just two big drive wheels attached to a scraper.
Having that third axle really helps with traction and ability to keep moving during parades. : )
That's all I used my trucks for and sometimes displays.
Good luck. You do get used to their size when you are around it a lot.
Another thing the A2 has over the A1 is two shackles on the bottom of the front bumper in addition to the two on the top of the front bumper. : )
Cargo bed floor height on an A2 is 4 ft 10 inches off the ground.
like the rooster said, I also kregistred mine as recreational truck and signed an affidavit for the 5 tons that would not be used commercially.
Only one lady in the large DMV office I went to knew how to get the trucks thru the computer system. I told them I was using the trucks for parades and...
I just took pics off google images of winter camo and freestyled on the truck with white, gray and black primer, the truck was already white, came from NM in a gov auction.
driving back recoveries are always a crapshoot. Been on about 5 of them from auction. on one the M936a2 would not keep running, needed fuel line replaced that was sucking air thru a pinhole. Helped a guy drive a M923a2 back here from Riley in August. Brought two new batteries, took out the 4...
just a few more things. Some ctis systems work fine when the temp is 60 degrees and above as all the seals in the wheels and system can seal in air better when everything is warm. This manual from spicer may help http://www2.dana.com/pdf/AXTS-0015.pdf
you can scroll down on the left and get...
The kinda goose honk noise or whatever, happens every 15 minutes in hwy mode when the system is working. It checks itself every 15 mins in hwy mode. You may have some air leaks. check out the 3 youtube videos from the army on the M939 series.
If you air up the tires to the same pressure all...

Pretty crazy how the reverse gearing is so much more reduction than first gear. Would think the engineers and during testing they would have changed...
I did not notice loss of power when the fan came on. You can hear the roar when driving when it comes on as it really moves a lot of air.
I had one idling in my driveway for at least a half hour on a 55 degree day before the fan came on. Congrats.
If you meet up with the military vehicle...
I have been thru 4 6x6's one at a time, sold the last one the M923a2 in July. I too want another one.
I am optimistic I will get a good deal on another one and have one in my driveway just to look at it.
Some folks want statuary or a fountain in their yard, I would like to have a large heavy...
On page 22 of this pdf is a pic and info about a specialized built deuce, I have seen these in person at a parade, pretty cool,
custom water tank goes down between the frame for lower center of gravity.

This video is a different program about USAF mobile missiles but related to the matter at hand.
Appears was too expensive and never executed. Check out the truck at 12:40 mins., a transporter that totals 1.4 million pounds.

I was there 3 or 4 weeks ago to help a buddy pick up a M923a2. Have to go thru the main gate to get a temporary ID to get on base if you don't have a military ID. Nice guys at the lot. Yes bring batteries. Ours was missing an engine oil dipstick and a worker went and got one for us. Luckily...
That truck is nice! Please keep posting pics and vids of using it. I saw a vid about Oshkosh taking old ones (maybe saw it on their site) and rebuilding them and running them thru the assembly line again with updates. Wonder why they let some of these out to auction if there is a rebuild program.
