    M923a2 trans question

Since the trans cooler in the engine area is running engine coolant thru it, the engine will actually heat the trans oil if you let it just sit in neutral and idle for 30 to 45 minutes. : )

    Considering 5 ton!!

Is there anybody from this site kinda near you so you could look at their truck up close? That has helped me. Yes 8 or 9 mpg is about right. I find mine where it is just too big to drive and I let it sit in the driveway and only take it out for about 5 parades a year. They always seem to need...

    M923a2 trans question

I gotta get the popcorn out to watch this thread. It can be 10 weight oil, 15w-40, or some auto trans synthetic stuff. An active duty wheeled mechanic here at Ft Carson recently advised me they were putting 15w-40 in everything to keep it simple. The -10 manual will specify different fluids...

    History of M35A2

seems like the write up on Wikipedia would help ya. Have owned two and read much about them and have read a lot but never have learned how many were made, it appears 7 different companies originally made them from 1953 to 1989. Met a guy at a car show who worked in the Indiana plant that...

    923a2 sluggish on take off

Kinda sounds normal to me. Both I have owned are slow from a stop but within 30 feet of rolling it starts shifting up and moving out nicely. I figure it is just physics, trying to get 11 tons moving from a standstill.

    M923a2 off-road truck camper options

about 12 years ago I discovered this trail guidebook and kept doing these trails. high mountain passes and trails up to old mining camps, etc. http://www.funtreks.com/ awesome stuff, small suv's and jeeps are best for the high mountain trails I found the first book for sale of CO trails...

    M923a2 off-road truck camper options

I have done some exploring around the West of the USA in a 98 chevy trailblazer and camped or stayed in hotels. I have owned 4 6x6's. For camping and exploring trips you wish to do I would go with a 3/4 ton ford, dodge or chevy or gmc with a camper on the back of it. just my two cents

    stuck deuce reverse winch video

I remember that video, he was stuck in mud in a backyard and he ran it over the front bumper and under the truck. With the truck helping as it powers in reverse it should not have taken too much of a tug to pull him backwards, relatively speaking.

Diesel Conditioners for my M923A2 1991

I have been using Power Service Diesel Kleen for a few years, works great. White bottle for winter, gray bottle for summer.

    New from Colorado

Where are you in CO? Have you checked out the military vehicle collectors of CO? That's mine on the homepage. http://www.mvcconline.org/

Loud metallic rattling just before air pressure release?

Mine does that, I think it is normal. I think my previous one did it too.

M923A2 Recovery from Great Falls, Montana. My first MV

How many lights do you have blinking? four? Mine is acting different in the winter cold too, sometimes 4 lites flashing and two tires that like to get a little lower than the others if the vehicle sits for a couple weeks. I guess it is the same idea that took down the space shuttle on launch...

    M925 transmission

Engine road draft tube. Mine puts out smoke sometimes. It is at the rear of engine drivers. side. axle pinion seal leaks will also put out oil onto back of the truck, that happened to me too with my first one.

What does your M939 series truck weigh.

I picked up 4 tons of gravel last summer and got weighed and it was real real close to the data plate poundage.

    M925 air brakes

The A2 I currently own was doing that when I picked it up, air dryer leaking air. I got a rebuild kit at a truck parts place for $167 including tax. Part # DQ6026 upper part Part # DQ6020 lower part The CTIS things above the axles makes the farting noises and the air dryer thing does the...

    Relief Valve Duckbill

Under my truck yesterday discovered one of mine gone. Anybody know where I can get one? What MV suppliers have these dust boots for the relief valve? Thanks for any assistance.

Found nice m35a3 bought it few questions

On the CTIS, yes it farts like a fog horn for a second. It's not like the air dryer on an air brake system where you get a short loud quick hiss of air.

    Familiar Oil Spray Pattern?

Good thread below on replacing the seal. Me thinks it is the seal behind that flange thing that spins on the top of the axle. My first 5 ton sprayed oil everywhere from that seal when I first picked it up from auction and started driving home...

Anyone from Mass just buy this HMMWV?

Maybe that picture is an expediter or whatever ya call it, taking an active duty truck somewhere for the guard since it has markings and antenna on it?

    Debating about buying a M37

Maybe one thing to consider for your usage is that the axle gearing is like 5.83-1 so you get like 6 to 8 mpg. They are cool looking. If I have one someday I would probably trailer it to places
