If I was you, check out lots of A2's on GL, look at the pics and vids very closely. I really like the idea that these things have been thru refurb.
I had a 1990 that went thru rebuild in 2008 and man was it clean all over. I now have a 1992 that went thru refurb/rebuild in 2009. It did not...
I found some more pics of a converted 2.5 ton. I think the state forest service builds these things at the University of CO at Ft. Collins. The custom water tank also fits down between the frame rails so you have water in the tank, between the frame rails.
The air dryer is in front of the ....front most rear axle....on the passenger side but still inside of the frame rail. Descant thing looks like a really big oil filter. I paid $167 for that filter and a rebuild kit at a truck shop here. There is a Youtube video about working on this thing.
I will try to ad some pics of these things, I have seen them around. they craft a water tank that fits down in between the frame rails.
Speed is a critical factor in suppressing wild fires and next summer the Oak Creek Fire Protection district expects its crews to arrive on the scene of...
It looks like a modified deuce and a half (M35). I slightly remember some thread on here where it was stated that some European regions or people referred to the deuce and a halfs generally as a Diamond T.
There is a 'pump' on the side of the drivers side engine block area near the secondary filter.
There is a 10mm bleed screw on the injection pump near the front of it between the pump and the engine block.
Crack open the bleed screw with a 10mm wrench and use your thumb on the 'pump' thing. would...
Very nice truck. I had the same thing happen on my recovery with the cab cover. Fixed it with putting gorilla glue on the afflicted area, clamped a 2x4 along the the top of the front edge with c-clamps for a few hours and it worked. Best of luck, congrats.
In July I picked up a M923a2 rebuilt in 2008, drove home 860 miles with the help of bulldogmack13.
Everything in the engine area looked new, cab interior looked new.
In Nov. bulldogmack13 and I won and picked up 2 M923a2's rebuilt in 2009, from Ft. Carson here and drove them home 20 miles, well...
this is minor but.... the a2's were built for 4 years, from 1989 to 1992 by BMY a division of Harsco. you mentioned 1996. Remember the thing weighs 10.5 tons empty so that is a lot of weight to get a mov'in quickly. I am in no hurry when driving my military trucks.
was at Ranchers Supply in SE CO about 6 months ago, talking to owner John, said he had bought 11 of them so far at that time and sold 2. He sells a lot of military trucks to pipeline and utility companies doing power line work etc. he said a power line co was going to use the trucks winches to...
I want a M936a2 someday and it would be cool if one of the current owners would possibly make a video of the basics of what they have learned. I'm sure there is a lot of physics involved and experience of how far to put the boom out to the side and putting down the stabilizers at certain times...
for what its worth, whack the control box with something. I was showing my M923a2 to two truck mechanics who were former army truck mechanics and they joked about how often they had to whack that box to get a truck started.
I believe they are only 325 lbs. : )
You can get an air hose set up to a glad hand attachment and get air off the front glad hand on the driver's side, unsure which glad hand it is in the back of the truck.
Maybe take the truck to a commercial truck tire shop for help. the thing to lower...
I have one that went thru rebuild in 2007 and is in awesome shape. I don't plan on anything going wrong with it, majorly, just the standard CTIS air leaks you have to play
with. My friend and I each picked up another one, these were rebuilt in 2009 by Unicore? plate on dash states mileage at...
Put what is on the data plate. Since it is an out-of-state 'title', I had to get a VIN verification form filled out for the CO DMV.
The guy at the diesel emission place filled out the form and he went off the data plate 21,500 lbs and 31,500 lbs for the weight areas.
