My Little Black Truck (Deuce ****)

Engine pics. Finally got around to the task of installing new-style headgaskets. The old weep-tab jobs were wetting the block pretty bad. Took the heads in to be resurfaced to find that they were both cracked between every single set of valves. Soooooo... While I was waiting for new heads to...

Proper slobber tube /Road Draft Tube routing?

I hated the sight of that ugly-a$$ tube hanging down, so I formed up a heavy-gauge wire bracket to hold it away from the u-joint, up high enough behind the axle where it's not seen, where it'll keep any oil that may drip out, or get blown back, off of any part of the truck. One end of the...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

... Exactly my same experience with ND straight-weight, plus the added "bonus" of fewer and fewer suppliers stocking ND in viscosities recommended for the 3053A; https://steelsoldiers.com/threads/m35a2-transmission-fluid-change.195206/#post-2279430

    Plastic gauge face restoration

Can't help with the thread you're looking for, but how you polish the lenses is all relative to how damaged they are, and how nice you want them to be/look. After all, they're just pieces of plastic, so the typical Novus plastic polish, or headlight rejuve kits will help. But, along with the...

Changing caster angle solved problems with G-177 tires

Here's a post with G's drawing that I found really helpful when doing mine... https://steelsoldiers.com/threads/changing-caster-angle-solved-problems-with-g-177-tires.83547/page-4#lg=post-1341852&slide=0

My Little Black Truck (Deuce ****)

Thanks! Yessir, although I have complete respect for those who want their trucks as-original, a bobbed truck is about 19', the same length as a regular-cab longbed pickup. I really enjoy being able to park in a regular-sized spot at Home Depot, O'reilly's, etc. and my wife and I have really...

    Harbor Freight Safety Recall

Some of the jack stands they've got on the shelf right now are still having consistency issues with post/pawl tooth engagement. I just made this video and uploaded it to YouTube yesterday...

My Little Black Truck (Deuce ****)

Thanks! I don't have any plans to add any additional lighting. I rarely, if ever, drive the 'ol boy in the dark, and I really like the clean, simple appearance. Re; lighting.... many owners add to, and convert exterior lighting to LED, particularly headlights, and I'm sure they add a great...

New to M35, getting started, where am I leaking?

FWIW, when I took delivery of my truck it had 8+ gallons in the pan, but was NOT making oil (new HH o-rings, FDC bypassed, manifold heater disconnected, etc)... Previous owner kept the truck parked on a steep driveway, pointed uphill, and I believe he just pulled the front pan plug, half-A$$...

    M35A3 Speedo oil leakage issue

If your T-case is the same as an M35A2 (forgive me, I know the A3 has the Allison Auto, but I'm not certain what t-case they have)... Discussion; https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/speedo-cable-leaking.29471/#post-354570 New Seals...

Check valve to prevent oil filter and cooler drainback

FWIW, I too had problems with lag to build pressure with the spin-ons... Found that a bad oil pressure regulator assembly was allowing pressure spikes that were damaging/blowing out the anti-drainback valves in the filters. Replaced the bad pressure regulator, and now I get consistent cold-start...

    I have a noisy M35A2.

IIRC, 4th gear is machined directly onto the back end of the input shaft, which is separate from the mainshaft. 3rd and 5th gear sit right next to each other on the mainshaft. 3rd and 5th, as a pair, are held in place by a single snap ring on the mainshaft. If the snap ring broke, maybe it could...

My Little Black Truck (Deuce ****)

Yes. It's the stuff that isn't split along the length all the way through, so no need to peel/glue a seam :)

My Little Black Truck (Deuce ****)

Decided to pimp the shift levers a bit more... Installed an Eaton S-1794 Isolator to the transmission lever (the interior is insulated well enough that when going down the highway, with the windows rolled up, and vents closed, the shift lever was the loudest thing in the cab. It's really quiet...

    I have a noisy M35A2.

Yep. Just being honest... OP might be the most savvy mechanic on earth, but when someone posts for help with an issue, stating specifics such as they've been told it could be a loose jackshaft, u-joint or driveshaft, but they haven't even looked under the truck to eliminate those simply...

New to M35, getting started, where am I leaking?

That's exactly what you need to do... Degrease and rinse it thoroughly and let it dry completely. Everything should look dull and ashy. If it still looks shiny after it's dried, you probably didn't get it degreased well enough. Start it up and scrutinize it early and often w/flashlight in hand...

School me in Deuce u joints, flanges, driveshafts and balancing

You da man G... simple question for you, not so much for us commonfolk :)
