    M936A0 Recovery

Great! Good luck on the recovery and trip home. Did a little quick lifting today. My helpers don't want to help lift stuff anymore- they fire up the crane instead.

    M936A0 Recovery

I've had real good luck with locks using the same keys. So far the larger master locks that have "US Set" use a common key, and the smaller locks have their own common key. They are also marked "US". The 936's I looked at all had the smaller US locks. YMMV

If it's from the batch that mine came out of- you should have some good stuff. The ones coming up seem to be picked over and I saw some issues- lots of leakage around the crane and winches and some other issues. I walked thru them and glad I got one when I did.

    M927 AN/MSQ-104 Engagement Control Station

For your viewing pleasure. General information: The AN/MSQ-104 Engagement Control Station is the command and control unit of the entire Patriot system. The ECS consists of a shelter mounted on the chassis of an M927 5-Ton Cargo Truck or on the chassis of a Light Medium Tactical Vehicle (LMTV)...

Just bought a m923A1 from Jeff City!

Jeff- in the dozen or so 939's I've recovered and driven home- the transmissions have been topped up. Keep in mind they use motor oil in the trans, so no need to take along ATF. In a pinch you can use the rotella. On the other hand- the power steering needed fluid about half the time. I have...

    Led Taillight

Appreciate it. My fronts do fit the buckets- but the guts need to be pulled to make room.

    Led Taillight

3D- please start a thread about your front LED installs. I have some ready to install- but found they are not plug and play like the rears. I paid $40 each for mine and thought that was an OK price

    M936A0 Recovery

That bar goes with the lug wrenches I think. Haven't pulled that stuff out yet. The tools are all USA and high quality- the same guys that make stuff for the hardware stores get the gov contracts. Not stamped or tagged, other than mfg markings. The tow bar feet and pins are all there and correct.

    M936 Switch

Getting the crane ready is pretty straightforward. Check the fluid level in the big tank. Then follow TM- transfer case in N, Transmission in 1-5, engage PTO lever. Should adjust to fast idle. Head back to the crane seat and start working. You also need to take the shipper braces off the crane...

    M936A0 Recovery

I'm never in a hurry- so they are always easy to work with. :D This time the lot guy got bent out of shape when I drove my car in. So I drove it out and walked in. No reason to make a fuss. In general I would say Barstow GL is pretty good and the USMC base is OK. I waited about 40 minutes just...

    M936A0 Recovery

Good to know. I see a couple real big snatch blocks in the bottom of the tool box... Just calculated my final fuel usage for the trip: 5.2 MPG for the first leg- Barstow to Vegas. 6.4 MPG Vegas to Salt Lake City (Ogden) Put in an extra dose of Power Service fuel treatment. Noticed a much...

    M936A0 Recovery

The batch of wreckers that this one came from (Barstow) all seemed to be rebuilt in 2008. None of the cable has been out of the winches or the crane since re-paint. Next item to try out is the rear winch- that looks like a real beast with serious capability. The M936 has a fast idle device...

    M936A0 Recovery

The wood crate contains a new control valve for the crane- 4 levers and the manifold. Also, a spare hydraulic main pump was included. you can see where some fluid has seeped out around the manifold. After cleaning that area up- no more fluid has leaked- so probably a slow leak.

No tow light or cable set- dang. Any guess as to what's in the wood crate?

The tools boxes are full. They were padlocked and the keys in the cab. I've started to offload the tools- to see what I have.
