    DOT 5 not required - M931 recovery

When I got my chauffeur license in the 70's, pre CDL, you really needed to pay attention running bobtail especially when the road was wet. Tractors back then didn't have brakes on the front axles and there was no such thing as ABS. :driver:

    Calling all Generator Owners

I use 2 cycle motor oil at a mix of 200:1. I use the 2 cycle oil because it has additives that are blended to burn clean and add lubrication. 2cents

    Banjo fitting not sealing

Well it could be that the washers you received where sub par. I got some with one or two of the wheel cylinders when I replaced all of mine. Also did you torque the banjo bolt to the spec of 65 lb-ft. I thought I was going to bust the darn thing but it didn't. "4. Install hose connector (3) to...

    Exhaust j-pipe installation problem

The best thing IMO to the longevity of a exhaust pipe is keeping moisture out. Capping it when not in use and getting it up to operating temp to burn off any condensate that might make a acid when left to mix with exhaust soot in the pipe. 2cents

How many members are running on MEP generated power right now..?

Once again the 003 to the rescue. :D We were off the grid again for about 12 ~ 14 hours because of Sandy. Started up the MEP and lived life as normal, for here anyway. Just a FYI, I had replaced the fuel tank cap a while back because the original was so rusty on the inside I didn't want...

    Another leaking hydraulic head

At least it isn't leaking anymore. Maybe it just needed the extra "honing" of a few more seating's. Kind of like lapping a valve to a seat.

Newbie owner needs help, coolant leak

Thanks for posting the resolution to the problem. Many times someone will post about an issue and then never posts what fixed it. Although a lot of work glad to here it was not more than a bad head gasket.

Rotating Engine Stand Suggestions for 6.2

They are a little pricey at around $1000 / $1200. Most likely not a good value for a one time use but if you are going to do several engines I would sure consider it. Probably wouldn't have much trouble selling it when your done with it.

Rotating Engine Stand Suggestions for 6.2

Well you asked so here is my 2cents. I had the engine out pf my pickup. 7.3L PS and used one of the $150 / 2000# stands from some tool outfit, don't remember anymore which one. This was a manual rotate stand and I can say that it did hold the engine  but was a major PITA to rotate. Also...

    Crankshaft movement

Breaking a crankshaft and having the engine run pretty much normal except for noise, and not always that, happens every now and again. It really depends where the break happens and how much load the engine is under. With the noise you indicated it made as you rotated it and that much movement I...

    Crankshaft movement

Just to make sure I am understanding correctly. When you say the crank moved about .010 of a inch was that up and down movement or thrust movement from front to back.

    Crankshaft movement

From the TM 9-2815-210-34-2-2 1.Push crankshaft (1) as far as it will go toward the rear of cylinder block (2). 2.Mount dial indicator (3) so indicator pointer (4) rests on outside edge of front of flywheel mounting flange (5). NOTE When turning crankshaft (1), hold it all the way to the rear...

    Civil Lawsuit Regarding M109A3

On the Federal compliance sticker on both my 02 F250 and the companies 2010 ranger they are listed as "Type: Truck". That would mean that the HOA restriction would also include any pickup also weather they meant for it to or not.

    Civil Lawsuit Regarding M109A3

I wish you well in your fight. If it only uses the word “Truck” with no further qualifier it won't stop them from enforcing the rule in your case but it will also kick out any and all pickup trucks to boot. That might make them rethink taking action because now it would involve many more residents.
