    special charger for AGM batteries?

He has AGM batteries. Those should not offgas. That is one of the reasons for using AGM's. They stick them inside RV's and campers because they are sealed and will not release hydrogen gas. The gasses recombine within the battery rather than venting. I don't claim to be a battery expert...

    LMTV starting issues

You don't have to hold the brakes for it to turn over or start. The CTIS system shouldn't be a factor either as many of the trucks have the CTIS unplugged anyway. My CTIS works but I have unplugged it before so that I could run a little higher tire pressure, and mine cranked and ran just fine...

Denton NC MV & Surplus Show 14-16 April 2016

I might be interested in that. If we only have the range for a couple hours then it just depends on what else we have going on.

LMTV M1078 Transmission Fluid Change To ATF Write Up

Over the weekend I pulled the instrument panel out and oiled the throttle cable and linkage assemblies. It definitely moves easier now and the pedal is noticeably easier to push. Mine still sticks a little though, so I might need to oil the engine end of the cable too and see if that helps.

    VHF / UHF setup questions

I'd be interested to see a pic of that antenna setup if you can post one or link to one. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm getting there a little at a time. I have very little knowledge about the military radios.

    VHF / UHF setup questions

Some of the mounting bases have a built-in diplexer. The radio I will end up using may only have one antenna output. Would it be bad to use a combiner to feed both ports on the antenna base?

    LMTV M1078 Tachometer

I think they are both 6.6 litre. The 3126 is just the electronic fuel injection version.

LMTV M1078 Door Pin Switch Install For Dome Lights Mod

That was a great idea to use the knockout plug! If you can mark the center of the circle, then use a punch to make a small divot before you drill it, then the bit won't walk around.

    Stuck Frame Bolts

Thanks for the information on the bolts. I will echo what the others have said that they are near impossible to remove by loosening them. I tried a 24" breaker bar on a couple of them. One came loose and the other didn't. I tried a 1" impact wrench..a couple came off and others didn't. When...

    VHF / UHF setup questions

In the beginning at least I think I will mostly be on 2m and 70cm for repeater use. The only radio I have right now is a handheld. As I get more into the hobby I may do more with the HF bands. I have a lot to learn, but it is fascinating! For now I would like to be able to reach the broadest...

    VHF / UHF setup questions

In reading the specs on these antennas, they say they do not require an antenna tuner. Has anyone tried one with a tuner anyway? It may not be required, but if it helps then why not? The specs show high VSWR around the common 2m and 70cm bands.

    VHF / UHF setup questions

Also from this post it seems Cobham makes one too: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?145973-CB-radio-gurus-I-need-help&p=1787192&viewfull=1#post1787192

    VHF / UHF setup questions

Yeah I am thinking that will be the way to go. I believe I will need a matching base too.

    VHF / UHF setup questions

I would like to put a VHF/UHF setup in my LMTV. I recently got my HAM license (General Class). My idea is to find a military VHF/UHF antenna and use it with a modern civilian mobile radio. At least for now I am thinking VHF/UHF since those are common for repeaters and handheld radios. I...

Official 2016 NC Denton Farm Park BUY/SELL/TRADE Thread.......

Looking for a VHF/UHF antenna. Harris makes one, the RF-390AT, 30-512 MHz. Shakespeare makes one too. I'm still researching, but I may also need the proper antenna base to go with one of those. I'm thinking the antenna base I have on my truck now is for the AS-3900A antenna, which is for...

Denton NC MV & Surplus Show 14-16 April 2016

Done! I went this past weekend and passed the Technician and General Class license exams. I also went ahead and bought a GMRS license a couple weeks ago in case I decide to do anything with GMRS. I will have my handheld radio with me at the rally. Maybe I can outfit the LMTV with a mobile...

    special charger for AGM batteries?

Thanks for all the info guys. Sorry to sort of hijack the thread, LOL. Luckily mine came with Interstate AGM's that were only about a year old. Sometime in the near future I hope to permanently mount a charger/maintainer so I can keep them topped off.

    Hydraulics Question

That is a dream of mine, to build an extreme RV or something similar and spend some time in Alaska. I thought about some system for transporting a dirt bike or dual sport bike. It would be pretty cool at the rallys and other events to have the bike to ride around. Maybe rather than a lift...

    special charger for AGM batteries?

OK gotcha, so you are just hooking the batteries up with their own chargers as 12v connections for recovery. For maintenance/float, are you using one charger hooked up as 24v, or still using two separate ones as two 12v banks? From what you are saying Hard Head, it sounds like you are using...

    special charger for AGM batteries?

I have a battery recovery charger called Da Pimp. It's a pulse type charger. I have had pretty good luck with it and sometimes I will use it to top off my batteries in the LMTV. It says it is ideal for lead acid batteries, but I have used it on AGM's as well. This isn't a battery maintainer...
