    New Guy from VA

Welcome from Arizona! My deuce is a tribute to my late father-in-law who survived 4 island landings in WWII with the Fourth Marine Division. By the way, my deuce was also an A.F. deuce serving with the Az. Air Nat'l Guard.

Anyone know what these are for?

I believe the lever behind the parking brake has something to do with a winch (I don't have a winch truck) or some other type of equipment. Is it possible the "cut off" cable was attached to that lever? Is there some cable hanging off the lever below the cab?

Just Got My Deuce, and of course a few new questions.

Yes, those are the bulbs I'm talking about. If you unscrew the cap you will find a bulb inside. The gauges have open spaces or "windows" around their edges. In theory the light from the two bulbs shines through the edges of the gauges to illuminate them. In practice it just doesn't work very...

Just Got My Deuce, and of course a few new questions.

Can't help with the clutch- don't know anything about it. Regarding the instrument lights the gauges do not have individual bulbs. They are lit by 2 bulbs mounted between the upper and lower rows of gauges. (Under the round, screw-in covers). Its a terrible system and there are several threads...

Best way to clean and degrease?

I use Zep heavy duty citrus degreaser (orange) from Home Depot. Cleans most everything but won't eat your skin off. (Use full strength) If that doesn't work, I use Zep industrial purple degreaser. Cleans everything off including paint. It WILL eat your skin off so wear thick rubber gloves. I...

Recovery of my Deuce, weekend of May 31 and June 1

One last thing, I need to tighten my parking brake, it wasn't grabbing tight enough to hold on an incline. I was told by Ford Mechanic and Lt. Dan how to tighten it via the brake lever. Just wanted to ask if anyone knows of any other adjustment on it if needed to make it tighter? There is an...

Just Got My Deuce, and of course a few new questions.

Regarding your gauges, did you troubleshoot them using an ohmmeter? I followed the troubleshooting guide for my oil pressure gauge and discovered the values in the TM are wrong. It indicated my gauge was bad but it was actually the sending unit. I discovered this by talking to Erik at...

Steel Soldiers MV of the month - May VOTE HERE!

M715mike- I voted for you because I like your truck. Actually, I was swayed by your campaign promises- can't wait till they come true. Oh, if they don't come true, you're going to get a visit from Mr. Joshua...

    Composite decking for troop seats?

I think you will find it is not "stiff" enough. When used as decking it requires joists 12" to 16" on center for support. Go to the home center and handle a piece of it to see what you think. This has been discussed many times here and it turns out fiberglass or hardwood are really the only...

    TachOmeter not working

Mine is routed like your #1 but has a hold-down clamp down by the pulley to keep it away from the pulley.
