What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Please see my post #3377 in this thread. A short metal broom handle works well as well. I alternate between the broom handle and the bat. the bat needs a little bit of tape on it so it stays on the pedal. Without the tape, the bat slides off. The broom handle needs one minor modification. I put...

Mystery holes (to me anyway!) and muffler question

I know what you have - a FrankenCUCV!!! :naner: It's still highly possible that it was a military vehicle at one point in its life. The military used civilian K5 Blazers as support roles on base (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

Mystery holes (to me anyway!) and muffler question

It looks like the floor was patched. The rear seat attaches to the recessed pins. Could you please post more pictures of the truck? It's hard for me to determine anything further. Thanks!

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

gottaluvit - It's already too late. You have a terminal case of OD Fever. You will never be balanced in any way, shape, or form again. You're hopelessly addicted to OD iron. You have a positive prognosis, though. Myself and the rest of the Green Iron Laughing Academy...

    CUCV recovery kit - recommendations?

Can you rent or borrow a 2500 or 3500 series truck, and rent a small car hauler from UHAUL? That's the safest option in my opinion.

Heads Up Florida! New DMV definition coming!

Thanks, Ray. I feel a little better now. :-)

M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

jog - One thing I learned when manually downshifting my M1009 is that I pull my foot completely off of the throttle, wait for the RPM's to drop, and then move to second gear. That technique prevents the hard SLAM you feel when you downshift under power. Try it this way and see what you think. :-)

Heads Up Florida! New DMV definition coming!

Ray - Please read my post, #25. Apparently, that suggestion didn't sit too well with him. Please also read post #31. He's not a happy camper.

Heads Up Florida! New DMV definition coming!

I'm sorry I implied that you stormed in to the DMV or tore anyone apart over the phone. I respect the work that you've put into this issue, for the betterment of our small, tight knit community. Life is too short to hold grudges. I don't want any bad blood between us.

Heads Up Florida! New DMV definition coming!

I'm deeply sorry. I apologize for any misunderstanding. Please forgive me. I didn't mean to imply that you went at anyone with a bad attitude. I appreciate everything you have done, all the call you have made, and all of the time that you have invested in this. I did not mean to imply...

Heads Up Florida! New DMV definition coming!

Thank you for the clarification, Jwade. My guess is the confusion started when Dodge man told the tag office workers that he needs a title for a military vehicle. Tag office employees don't deal with MV's all the time, and have no idea what a HMMWV, M939A1, M715, M561, M35A2, M38A1, etc even...

Heads Up Florida! New DMV definition coming!

Dodge man - Try going to another tag office and see what story you get. Go there with an open mind and a smile on your face. Leave the anger and frustration at home. Act like you know little, and ask politely worded questions. See what answers you get. One more thing - avoid the tag office at...

    riggermedic's M1009

Great ideas on the console. If you're going to that much trouble for a CB, you might as well exponentially increase your range by getting your amateur radio license and installing a dual band Yaesu, Icom, or Kenwood! The test is only 35 multiple choice questions. As I mentioned above, you're...

    M1009 Transmission options question: TH400 vs 700R4

Marcus - You might have to use an asterisk to find shortened search strings. A search for Spe* might have shown his username. spe* = return search results containing all characters that start with 'spe'.

M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

She's adorable and intelligent, and you're screwed. ;-) It looks like she's getting hooked on the old OD Iron at the perfect age!! :goodjob: Please continue to nurture her love for military vehicles. As she grows, teach her how to maintain that beast. We need to pass our addiction on to the...

    Problems with belts

Dayco belts from Advance Auto Parts are well known for stretching after 500 - 1000 miles. Gates belts don't stretch much. Pay the extra coin for a set of Gates.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

The seats look VERY comfortable, CUCVRUS! Do they tilt forward, or are they rigid?

M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

I got an idea for you, jpg. Keep this beast for yourself. Buy a second ambulance. Use all of your newly acquired skills to custom build an ambulance just for her. :-)

Sound proofing, is it worth the money and time?

Go to a place that sells RV's. Go to the parts department. Buy a tube of caulk that's used for the windshields of $500,000 Class A's. Take the wipers off, and take the metal screen off of the truck. Re-caulk the body seams inside the cowl box on a day with no chance of rain.
