Murdock,
A couple questions: Is is possible for you to acquire the engine parts from another source? Why tear apart an engine that already fired up and is at least partly known good?
I installed dual Interstate MTP-24's in my M1009 a couple of years ago. They are 800 CCA beasts. I don't have to deal with -20F or colder in sunny Florida, though.
silverstate55,
I REALLY wanted to snap a couple of pictures of the M113 and MRAP, but I was coordinating a parade entry that combined Steel Soldiers members and the DeLand Naval Air Station Museum. There was too much stuff happening all at once, and I didn't get a chance to take pictures. :-(...

Starting out with a M1009 is a great introduction to diesels, and auto mechanics in general. Buying a Deuce first is biting off more than you can chew if you don't have any experience working on 14,000 lb trucks with multi-fuel engines.
You are wise beyond your years. I am SO PROUD...
This weekend, I participated in the DeLand FL Veteran's Day Parade. The Volusia County Sheriff Department has a M113 with rubber tracks and a MRAP. It was cool to see both of them in the parade! :-) It's too bad our entry in the parade was so far away from the MRAP. I'd have loved to poke my...
The parade, convoy, and cookout was AWESOME!! We had 9 vehicles total - 7 Steel Soldiers and the DNAS Museum jeep. I appreciate everyone that joined in the fun! :-). I got the opportunity to tow the DNAS Museum's 1938 40mm gun with my M1009! :-)
I took a bunch of pictures at the parade lineup.
Thanks for posting this! I sent the information to a fellow Extra class holder friend of mine. He has a M37 with a communication shelter loaded with functioning mil radios.
That sucks big time. :-( The unfortunate experience you are having is the primary reason I don't let anyone borrow any of my vehicles. I'm even hesitant about authorizing my mechanic to take my cars and trucks for test drives.
I just got word from my contact at the DNAS Museum. He wants us to arrive at the Museum by 8:30AM so we can leave at 9AM to convoy to the parade lineup location.
