    Duuane's M135 repower thread

Well.. Covid and the SIr Wilfrid Laurier have conspired to burn up all my free time. The Laurier went back in the water yesterday 1 full week ahead of schedule so thats a good thing. Maybe tomorrow i'll be able to do something usefull in the yard. I have a line on a 427 industrial that i'm...

    GMC m135 rebuild

What i do is back off the adjuster cams bolts a third of a turn. Then "light" tapping with a 4 lb sledge with the wheel off and tiger torch heating the drum. I also have a 4' pipe wrench that i lock onto the hub with a 5 foot cheater. The combination of heat, rapping vibration and torque from...

The duramax platform is awesome. I ran a gomaco gt3600 curb extruder for a period of time. Was on the highway returning from a job out of town in one of the dmax powered trucks when i thought i felt the truck leaning weirdly in a corner. So i checked the mirrors maybe i had a low tire..then i...

The "cadillac deuce", cab replant idea

Park it on level ground. Get a tape measure. Measure the outside to outside on the frame rails. Get a plumb bob. On the floor mark a line where the center of the front wheel is. Then drop a second point in a different color thats the center of the front wheel well in the front fender. Remeber...

Another job out of the way..I'm trying to maximize crane placement by doing 2 conversions at the same time. Altered the chevy CUCV K30 frame to work with the big block chrysler and its stock mounts. Spot on in all the right places. Tomorrow ill get started on the rear crossmember and mounts.

Itll go. Maybe crack the drain plug on the trans pan. Water will go to the bottom. Itll save trying to flush out the raspberry milkshake when you get it lit up. If it runs red right away youre golden.

Aaaaand..its out. Eyeing things up with the tape..it looks like the allison is about 5/8" longer than the hydramatic. The allison flywheel housing is 1 1/2" deeper. The block is a full 10" shorter in length so that leaves 8 7/8" of wiggle room and extra clearance to the distributor/firewall. The...

Ferries..definately ferries. Rolls royce has its own version that is a sealant as well..those crazy limeys. I'll have to check the torque on the flange retaining nut. If it wasnt cranked down enough maybe the leakage is an indication of spline wear.

    Duuane's M135 repower thread

The castleated stover nuts are a great thing. They act like a die and give the crud a place to go as youre winding them off..when its going back together ill be using liberal ammounts of ceramic anti sieze. Once its on there...even if you cant see it..its on there. What a huge improvement in...

    Duuane's M135 repower thread

I did find one curious thing. The front output on the tcase is leaking. Not through the seal..through the splines. Pulled the driveshaft and it puked a little oil. Good thing the plywood..er..spill kit was there.

    Duuane's M135 repower thread

I crawled under the 135 this morning and started removing the driveshafts and linkages..pleasantly surprised that it wanted to come apart. Had the jack shaft split and the front driveshaft out in less than 30 mins. I think the worst of it will be getting the floor plates out. I hosed everything...

Well the big book of spicer says 4° caster for the early dana 70F and 6° with power steering..itll be interesting to see how much pinion angle they built into the housing.
