New Member from Oregon/ Just Bought M923A2 First Ever, Advice?

I hope he's ok. Seen the horror stories of people crashing these things and it makes me wonder when he hasn't checked in.

Kentucky kicked my ass the last time I spent more than a few hours there! lol Thanks for the welcome guys. Also thanks for the good info you've provided me. I'm starting to get a better picture of what the process entails with a recovery.

Anyone been to Ripley without a GL escort?

 Ok, that's the kind of thing I wasn't expecting. The trucks were driven in, but won't start. I was figuring they didn't know about turning the batteries on. Now I'll definitely hold out for ones I can get my nose under. Thanks!

I can build anything needed for converting it. I'm a real machinist, not some button pusher CNC zombie operator. I've also been welding about 15 years (got a late start), and fabricating stuff over 20. Longest log haul would be Cloquet, and that's 115 miles one way. I'll be driving it, so...

If you only drive it 1000 miles a year? I know the fuel economy is lacking, but you can buy a lot of diesel for what you save from buying a road truck and prep it to go in the woods.

When Does a Truck get Overhauled?

I won't be skidding logs with it. :D I would be hauling a skidsteer on a trailer, and hauling logs in the bed. I started another thread so this one doesn't get jacked.

Anyone been to Ripley without a GL escort?

I tried setting up an appt. today but the guy is in SD this week, so there's no on-site rep for the current round of trucks. Is it possible to get in there without the guy? What's the risk of buying a M925 without seeing it from the MN NG? I only have a 40 mile trek to my property from the...

Hey guys. I'm a machinist with a wood lot and a need for some heavy hauling capabilities. I dreamed of getting a willy's jeep as a kid and now it looks like I'm on the fast track to getting a 5 ton instead. :D Been lurking around the site for a while and finally broke down and registered so I...

When Does a Truck get Overhauled?

How often are these machines needing repair when they're purchased first hand from GL? Hi, I'm a noob and considering a M925 for woods work/skidsteer/log hauling.
