The European websites may be your best bet for that seat. Prices aren't too bad right now, with the strong dollar. I've recently found a few things over there which were either unobtainable or just super expensive from US sources. A lot more unimogs get parted out over there.
Hmmm. Now I'm curious. Does the parts SEE have a rebuild plate? How about the other two FLUs? The kind of difference you describe is pretty unusual for a military vehicle with a low production run coming off (I assume) a single assembly line.
Don't take the TMs as gospel when it comes to the preparations necessary to do a certain task. I can recall many instances where a -20 did not mention all pre-work which had to be done before replacing a certain part. Granted, I had a motor pool full of tracked vehicles, not SEEs, but the...
Yup, that cylinder is light yellow to orange. I'm wondering if they just got it locally from a heavy equipment place.
This thread is fantastic, without a doubt. The information found here just isn't published anywhere else. Between reading the entire thread, the entire Operator's Manual...
Thanks for taking a stab peakbagger!
Yeah, I've watched vtwin4christ's regulator clean-out video a couple of times. I expect to find some pretty ugly rust in there, and a rotted-out cross line. The electricals were going to be my first priority, with the air system next, but since the wiring...
With wind chill it is supposed to get to -13 tonight. Maybe I should roll the windows down, just to make sure the critters meet their maker. Cheaper and healthier than using chemicals, that's for sure.
All good ideas, thanks. It looks like the dipper cylinder has already been replaced, since it's a different color. What would you recommend cleaning the rods with? Something like WD-40? I've used hydraulics before, but never had to maintain them.
EDIT: That's the bucket cylinder that's been...
Well, our SEE arrived this morning. After hooking up a new set of batteries and giving her a shot of ether, simp5782 was able to start her up despite the single digits. Judging by the paperwork found behind the seat and a couple of markings, I think she came to her new home from the 642nd...
BigBison did you NOT read the above: "Both parties need to deal with their issues through the legal system, not the forum."???
Patracy is one of the site admins. I wouldn't be surprised if you got banned for a while after he JUST asked you to knock it off. If you must keep replying to...
At the heart of it all, it's a German tractor. All the extra stuff DOD slapped on it made it a chimera, and doubled the complexity of an already complicated machine. It is what it is.
I hear ya Ahab. I bought mine for the functionality (theoretical functionality, until I get it working anyway). Too bad stepping away from the mainstream in just about any way in life costs more. Not in all ways, certainly, but in most.
Searching the european parts websites for an OM352 oil pressure sender gets you part number 001 542 56 17, which matches the part number on EI. Try this one: https://www.truckparts1919.com/febi-bilstein-oil-pressure-sensors-5050525/
Much less expensive, even with shipping across the pond.
Here's something on FLU oil pressure from tennmogger on another thread: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?125668-FLU-419-assistance-needed
Not sure whether anyone has tried his troubleshooting process, but he seems to know his way around Mogs very well.
About STE/ICE
Here's a response to peakbagger's post way back on page 185 of this thread.
I oversaw a heavy Army maintenance shop in the late 90's. We had the STE/ICE equipment, but it was very rarely used. In my 2.5 years there, I can only remember seeing it hooked up to a vehicle...
And a big thanks to General Hood for those diagrams (I was one of those guys he's talking about), and to Speedwoble for digitizing.
The reason I'm thanking them ahead of time is that I've just bought my SEE, and it's got that unmistakable symptom of Texas Rat Disease...no lights or gauges work...
