Adventure Driven's photos and videos of their M1079

The Cat procedure for doing the valve adjustment mentions using the alternator or other engine accessory and a wrench to rotate the engine.

LMTV Alternator Disaster, engine now catastophic

A few points: 1. If someone put together an "emergency" kit that included: Alt L bracket, Alt Bolts, Alt belt, Water Pump, Water pump belt, Water pump seals, Easy out, drill bit, Loctite. I would certainly buy one. Anything else that would be required to make sure you can sort out this...

    air lines - refresh

I think the airline I am replacing is part of the CTIS. I'm going to stick with the black hose because I don't have any better ideas of which circuits to make what color.

I'll give that a shot for the next airline.

    cab tilt hydraulic failure

Today when I went to tilt the cab some hydraulic bit failed and sprayed fluid all over the engine. I switched off the air/hydraulic pump and tried with the hand pump and still same result. I did my best to figure out where it was coming from. Just under the cab latch it was soaked and...

    Scott's LMTV build thread.

Usually red running lights and brake lights use two intensities. If you wanted to use the same bulb you could just use a simple filter in front of the running light. An old sunglass lense or a Gel used for theater lighting. Maybe even something simple like a sheet of paper would probably work...

    Scott's LMTV build thread.

I totally got the same style of bulbs and put them in the backup light. They work perfect for that use.

    air lines - refresh

Update. My local NAPA says they can only sell me 3/8 air brake line by the whole box which is $250 ft and it's $1 a foot. I think they must just not know how to enter the cut length. I'm going to order some off Amazon. While searching for the airline I stumbled on some cheap unions that would...

I'm having a lot of trouble locating a replacement part to remove/replace the kneeling valve. Can anyone help me source one?

    Leaky fuel cap

Stopped the truck on a hill with a full tank and noticed fuel leaking from the cap. I muscled the cap on tighter and got it stopped. Is there a special tool for tightening the cap? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

    slow leak in tire

After cleaning on the kneeling valve it's still leaking and I'm still getting slow flats. I noticed (during the day) that this is the only tire with this valve on it. Where do I find that 90 degree fitting to delete the kneeling valve?

    LMTV or?...

Ok after some poking around I found auction sites with both the 225 hp and the 290 hp versions. The relative serials are: 7AG05095 and 4RJ02137 (SS member). Searching this site...

    LMTV or?...

Well this is a good place to start digging. I suspect the only difference being a newer better turbo. It is entirely possible that the higher HP engines are also bored to 6.7 instead of 6.6 to match up with the 3127 bore size. That could account for a bit of hp right there. From other reading 4%...

    LMTV or?...

The LMTV has a bunch of room and it's surrounded by rubber curtains. If you do plan on doing any type of waste oil conversion the best option is to store it in it's own tank that is heated then heat the complete fuel system (coolant water jacket). Then also have startup/shutdown controller that...

    LMTV or?...

Preface: I'm building an overland vehicle and the chances of me driving 500k miles in it are slim. I also would like to look at alternative fuels if I can get them cheap and conveniently. Longer oil change intervals sounds great too. 1. Longevity: One of the key reasons diesels get so many...

    LMTV or?...

Could you shed some light on what the differences are? From my reading I know the max power output is limited by cooling capacity. I could guess some parts that might have changed. Could it be the updated turbo?
