think I cracked the flywheel again

I thought he was referring to the recess in the crank (where the pilot bushing would go) that the nub on the end of the torque converter lines up with. I agree though, with both spinning at the speed there should be no issue with slight derivations in the arrangement. Ken, thanks for the...

think I cracked the flywheel again

I used red loc-tite, with a torque wrench. The pilot hole looked fine though I did not mic it or anything as the transmission was only slid back about 3" so I could get the job done. The dowels were there and the flexplate was not worn out in any fashion for its bolt holes. I did rotate...

think I cracked the flywheel again

When I bought my m1009 it had a cracked flywheel and was making the typical rubbing sound when in reverse. I did not know this at the time I bought it as it was the first time in a long time owning an automatic, so all of my flexplate and torque converter knowledge have come from the last year...

    lift q for 33's

fwiw, I've got 33x12.5x15's on my m1009 and have not had any rubbing issues. Someone told me I had a body lift but after comparing my truck to others, I'm pretty sure I have factory standard details all around in regards to the suspension and body mounts. I have never had it out in the woods...

    WMO(used motor oil) in 6.2 M1009

I've been running 100% waste motor oil from the local parts house vat for about three months now. I filter down to 10 microns with some water separation on the last run through. The truck runs great aside from coking up pretty easily every 2 - 3 thousand miles. I'm working on that issue at the...

Should anyone be curious about those 7k lb 4 post lifts

Thank you for the torque spec, I had assumed that it was fortunate for me that it wasn't a snake. This site in particular seems to organize information in a very non-intuitive manner for me so I find it difficult to put my finger on something when I need it. I figure it must be a feature of...

Should anyone be curious about those 7k lb 4 post lifts

Finished it up this evening. Probably spent more time wiping the grime off the tools than I did wrenching. For anyone curious, I never did find the torque specifications for the flexplate and tc bolts specific to the th400. I did find elsewhere on the net that the 700r4 flexplate for the 6.2...

Should anyone be curious about those 7k lb 4 post lifts

Ok, I give up. I've gone up and down the tech manual and I'm stumped. Can anyone give me the torque specifications for the flexplate and torque converter bolts? or perhaps just make fun of me and send me the page location for said information?

Should anyone be curious about those 7k lb 4 post lifts

pevrs114, I appreciate the offer but I'm not willing to make any unnecessary adjustments at this time. What I have works for the most part and I'm trying to create as little extra work as possible, hehe. clinto, That one wasn't originally, it is now a nonconverting convertible. That particular...

Should anyone be curious about those 7k lb 4 post lifts

Nah, it looked like that when I got it. My work is limited to mechanical/electrical details so far. I do plan to fix the rust spots and redo the paint/bondo work where needed. I don't mind ugly though, so it may be a while (grin). From the front: I wasn't a fan of the cowl induction hood...

Should anyone be curious about those 7k lb 4 post lifts

...and their ability to pick up an M1009, I'm happy to let you know that they can. barely, hehe Finally got around to fixing the DeLorean so I could fit the Blazer on the lift and replace the flexplate. Mine cracked, and started making a god awful rocks in the bellhousing type sound...

    Fuel Filter Change

I did exactly what M38inmaine described, worked great. The only thing I wish I'd done differently is used the little fuel filter drain on the bottom left of the base so that I didn't need rags under the filter when I pulled it free.

Read all FAQ's, but have new questions

It is stepped down to 12 volts to the glow plugs by a pair of fat nasty resistors located under a heat shield just behind the air cleaner against the firewall. As far as engineering goes, this manner of 24/12 volt setup is just a stop gap. Born almost entirely of bean counting, it did manage the...

    M1009 Top Speed/MPG Question

Mine will get up to 75-80 with no worries, however I'm only seeing about 15mpg out of it. Thats with eight brand new injectors and 33X12.5 tires.

    Loud tapping noise in reverse

As the title indicates, my m1009 makes a tremendous racket when put in reverse. It sounds like is coming from under the floor/firewall area where the bellhousing is at. It only does it when in reverse though not always, just most times. The tempo and volume varies with the engine speed...

    Outside tire carrier ideas

The only functional issue I foresee would be with air flow through the radiator versus interfering with a headlight. Possibly an issue if you wanted a winch as well. I would want something that had the spare mounted to a receiver hitch of some kind. Normally, this receiver would be...

    Glow Plugs

Glad to hear its running appalacious. btw - if you're going to use a 12v setup, I suggest picking up a brand new 12v gear reduction starter. I picked one up off ebay for $102 shipped. Vehicles like this have a way of rendering issues when it is incredibly inconvenient.
