    Working on the Deuce

I installed a set of new zippered boots on my deuce about 4 years ago and they are already falling apart. Poor quality it seems. I am installing another zippered set only because I do not feel like tearing the knuckles apart right now.

    M35A3 drivability and performance

Mods, please delete this thread. It is a duplicate of the same title thread which I have already posted. It was caused by a computer glitch.

    M35A3 drivability and performance

How does an M35A3 with the Caterpillar motor and Allison auto compare to a regular multi fuel deuce in terms of acceleration , cruising speed, and overall driveability? What about fuel consumption? Is the towing capacity the same? I assume they did not change the Rockwell axle gear ratios...

    Fuel tank leak

I never removed the tank on mine, but I took out the pump and replaced the gauge sending unit. I would recommend replacing the electric transfer pump gasket when you install it on new tank . I would also carefully inspect the tank straps for corrosion or damage and replace the strap bolts...

    Engine Advice

These engines are expensive to ship as they weigh about 1,600 lbs without the container.

    M35A3 drivability and performance

So how do you rate your truck compared to an M35A2?

    Front axle boots and seals

Thanks, I actually found that thread and read it before posting this thread, but he was using one piece knuckle boots, so knuckle disassembly was a must. I am not sure if I need to disassemble the knuckles just to replace the axle seals, that's what I was asking.

    M35A3 drivability and performance

Maybe it is just a bad tire with a shifted/broken belt? Do they balance these large radial singles at all? My M109 rides pretty smooth compared to this, with unbalanced 9.00 X 20 military NDT tires.

    M35A3 drivability and performance

I always prefer manual transmissions to automatics, so that Allison transmission is actually a turn off for me. However, i am surprised that these trucks are slow with higher HP engines than the old multifuel. It is always a good idea to drive the truck before buying it. Unfortunately if...

    Silicone brake fluid replacement

Is it necessary to periodically replace the silicone brake fluid (DOT5) in these trucks? I have not replaced mine since I bought the truck more than a decade ago. I always replace regular DOT 3 and DOT 4 brake fluids on my cars, trucks, and motorcycles every two years because it is hygroscopic...

    Front axle boots and seals

I am getting ready to replace my front axle boots with new zippered ones because the old ones have cracked. I find that strange because I replaced them about 4 years ago and did not drive the truck much at all since then. Anyway, does anybody else have this same issue of these zippered boots...

    M35 powered by 5.9 cummins

I saw his adds in the Military Vehicles magazine. I figured it would not be cheap, as the engine alone would cost probably at least $ 10k. It is much more logical and cheaper to get a nice M35A3 with a Caterpillar diesel and Allison auto.

    M109 van body rust repair

Thanks, what I did for now, removed the rust scale and coated the seams with elastomeric flashing compound. That should work for a while until I can do more permanent repairs.

    M109 van body rust repair

Yes, I meant"relatively" rust free body. Mine was actually pretty nice when I got the truck, but over the years it deteriorated here in Florida.

No help needed with M109 Restore..

Not much better here in Florida. I cannot spend much time working on this truck, even though it is under a car canopy because of humidity and heat.

    M109 van body rust repair

I have the usual issues with my M109 - there is some rust on the top where the individual sheet metal plates overlap and are riveted together. what is the best way to repair the rust? Anybody know of a good place here in Florida that does competent rust repairs on these vehicles? Mine is not...

    9.00 X 20 NDT tires

I am looking for two new 9.00 X 20 NDT military tires for the front of my M109. The ones on my truck have plenty of tread left but are beginning to dry rot due to age. I can't seem to locate any new tires at a reasonable price anywhere. There was a set on eBay a few months ago but they are...
