M939 SERIES SHUT DOWN PROCEDURES or FRY your ECU!

So I am digging around the web tonight and I run into the following and thought I would share it w/ others. I did a search here and I could not find any info on this, and no one has ever mentioned it to me. . . ; Shutdown procedures should be closely followed on all M939’s equipped with...

Santa Brought a Convoy Warning Light Kit

When I first saw green and tan mixed I didn't like it, but it has kinda been growing on me ever since I have seen pics of what appear to be MV's in current use by the military w/ misss-matched color parts. In your case I think it would look good. Things will be symetrical... No matter...

    M923a1 air brake question

I think I might just grab another TC chep someplace. THAT rebuild would be a big deal. Conversly, you can find a used one for $300 bux places like HERE. prob 250-350 for shipping and call it almost done except for change out. Your truck was probably ridden hard and put away wet. There...

Air system relief valve opening on M925...Frozen air lines/valves?

Hmmm, I am no mechanic but I wonder if you have frozen water in your air lines someplace. The govenor is suspect IMO. How hard is it to pull it, bring it inside and let it thaw and examine it or how old is it? How about just pick up a new one? I know throwing parts at a problem is not real...

New truck and a stuck brake! M923

I am no mechanic ...having said that If you install an air hose fitting so that you can pump air into the system w/o the engine running you have a way better chance of finding an air line leak. Additionally have you done a C.O.L.A. test? You prob have a bad air chamber diaphgram , JUST...

    5 Tons and snow

I have been told they are outstanding in all flavors of weather by a 70 year old man whom lives eats and sleeps these things. He has towed in the snow as well. Just flip the front axle swich in high range and power on. I was also told that there is no reason for chains. Personally i will not...

California Title Registration Diesel Smog Law and GL loadout info for M35 Deuce 5 Ton

So your saying basically that any MV truck we buy from GL after 2015 that has a diesel, and is older than 2010 model year, we have to pull the engine and put in a SMOG Legal engine? If that is the case then I see the price of MV's w/ diesels pre 2010 dropping HUGE. Of corse they can be pulled...

    Transfer Case low range headaches!

Here is what I was talking about, pg 369 -10 Op manual 2012; xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx CAUTION Do not allow the M939 series vehicles to exceed 5 mph (8 km/h) or M939A1/A2 series vehicles to exceed 6 mph (10 km/h) when transfer case is in low and the transmission is in 1 (first)...

    Transfer Case low range headaches!

These manuals are so big...I saw someplace it said not to go over 5-6 MPH in 1st in low. THEN I saw a diagram of sorts and the speeds allowed in reverse in low range were BLANK, no info. I would LOVE to get it directly from a MotorPool Supertinendants mouth exactly as to what the deal is. I am...

Got a bui- bidding under the influence

The PS mirror will need ot be re-afixed if you are to drive it, prob missing parts. If you could determine what is there and maybe buy the rest, needed or not, you will have the bases covered for little money. I lust looked and I can not tell if it is just missing a couple 1/4" bolts and nuts...

Oh Dear Lord! I just bought a 5 ton from Ft Rucker in AL. Now what?

I was told and I believe it true that if it is cold outside that you will run that truck for at least a 1/2 hour before all oils and metals come up to temperature. Additionally it takes some time for the tires to get loosened up. You will see a difference in the overall feel of a warmed up vs...
