:tigger: Thanks for rescuing a classic.....I predict a lot of good times for you and the Boss Lady (and you know she is).

    Installing bed on tractor

:tigger: I'm glad both you guys that bought beds from me did so well. I'm in the process of downsizing the inventory and the last thing I wanted was to see these beds on a slow boat to China. Wait till you see the mod I have in mind for the M927. I'll post it in a separate thread in a few days.

Rusted-stuck boom extension on M923 spare tire carrier

:tigger: I have use parafin (candle wax) to remove stubborn lunettes. You have to heat everything up and allow the wax to be sucked into the space between the two pipes. It sometimes takes a couple of applications. What has probably happened is that the rust has welded the two pieces together...

:tigger: Are those 900x20 tires????? If so who fabbed the rims?

Official 2014 SS Ga. Rally buy/sell/trade thread

:tigger: I sold the M923A2 that I was making into a tractor today but it went without the bed, spare tire rack and spare tire. It is a drop side bed and is weathered but no cancer rust. It has side racks and bows but no cover. My plan is to take the 20 foot bed off the M927 and put the 14 foot...

Official 2014 SS Georgia Rally Info SSGR14 thread

:tigger: I've never had a t-shirt or any trade goods go missing. Since we are not open to the general public the only rif raf at the rally is the in house rif raf and they are honest if somewhat strange. Now that being said you do not want to leave any homemade cookies unsecured since there...

:tigger: I think that after November it will be a moot point.

    M923a2 brakes will not release

:tigger: Release the emergency brake, push in the spring brake override and pound on the drums with a BFH. Have "Soldier B" rock it back and forth (once you are clear of the vehicle).

Official 2014 SS Georgia Rally Info SSGR14 thread

:tigger: Boiled peanuts......mmmmmm....mmmmmm......A true southern delicacy. Poppop has the range on Boild peanuts. Any Yankee that won't try at least one will be drenched in Wreckerman's famous (or infamous if you are not a southener) sweet tea and ridden out of town on a...

    Recently Purchase M923a1 problem...Big Problem

:tigger: Ok.......I'm going to take a deep breath and try to post before you really get flamed. I'm going to speak to you like you are one of my Soldiers. First and foremost you did not preview the truck. Strike one against you. Two....you bid on a truck that you have little or no knowledge of...

looking for Line Hauler or HET

:tigger: Anybody that wants to use a military vehicle for a line haul truck is a masochist. Especially if your are running the roads on the east coast. I convoyed an M915 from Fort Benning, Ga to Fort Irwin, Ca and it was the most miserable week (yes it took a week) I've ever spent in a...

Official 2014 SS Ga. Rally buy/sell/trade thread

:tigger: To put a decent paint job on the outside it needs to be either media blasted or a lot of hand sanding to remove loose paint. The roof leaks around the hatch on top but Cool Seal would fix that. The inside needs a complete do over, floors, walls and ceiling (I'd rate it at an eight 8)...

Official 2014 SS Georgia Rally Info SSGR14 thread

I once stayed in a fleabag motel in Forrest, Mississippi. When I called the front desk to complain about the roaches the clerk said, "just put some food on a plate on the other side of the room and they'll leave you alone". This place was so bad the working girls wouldn't even use it.

    coolant flush

:tigger: Any coolant that is rated for diesels will work. Make sure it says it's for diesels on the jug. I would use a pretty strong mix.....75 water and 25 Dawn. Let it get hot and then flush. Do one more flush with the mix and then do a flush with plain water. If the water still has oil...

    coolant flush

:tigger: There are a lot of commercial flushes out there but I'm not sure they are good for oil. Dawn dish washing liquid is great for cutting grease and oil. Run a mixture of that and water through there and then flush with clean water a couple of times.

    M35a2 dilemma

:tigger: Many years ago I would take our commercial trucks to a Freightliner dealership in Jackson, MS, to have them worked on. They had a huge boneyard in the back and I'd spend a lot of time rummaging through the dead dinosaurs. Back when trucks were just getting air brakes the low air...
