Did the 936s ever come with lockers?

If the wrecker was Marine Corps it stands to reason that it had lockers. But we are talking the military here so reason may or may not fit the equation.

Moving truck from CA to NC - Help.

Finding a RGN in CA that needs a backhaul to NC is going to be difficult. RGN's typically charge 3 bucks or better per mile plus there may be some permitting in some states. PM me for Stanley's number at Landstar. He has helped me out in the past, has always did what he promised and is now a...

Moving truck from CA to NC - Help.

Now there's an idea. Still a slow go at 45 MPH. Ron is the man for the job to drive it back.

Getting ready to buy one and need advice

The 900 series A2's had the 8.3 Cummins turbo diesel (and the CTIS) verses the 250 N/A Cummins in the older trucks. Super singles do not necessarily mean the truck has the 8.3. I have seen several 900 series trucks (including the one in my back yard) that have the super singles but still have...

    Slow a towed Deuce?

I flat towed a deuce with a deuce from Little Rock, Arkansas to Alabama and it was a slow go. Average speed was about 45 MPH on flat ground. The biggest worry you will have, if you are on the interstate, is the big rigs blowing by at 70+ MPH. It is unnerving to say the least and I was an over...

Ways to make a deuce quieter and warmer in the cab.

You can't gold plate a turd (well you can but then you just have an expensive turd). Deuces were built for function not comfort. I put a lot of miles on a deuce in Germany back in the 70's. Warm in the summer, cold in the winter. I prefer the heater that mounts on the firewall verses the on...

    Patracy's "SEMTT"

You need to come up with an equally cool trailer to pull behind it.

24V Battery Charger Questions, who makes a good one?

I have two of the big chargers they sell at Advance Auto and I use them to charge the big TL's and regular batteries. I set them up in the cab when doing a 900 series truck. You have to take the wheels off them to get them to sit between the battery box and firewall. I disconnect them...

what oil should i use for the allison 5 spd automatic in my 1984 m925

I had transmission fluid puking out of the fill hole on the M927 with the 250 Cummins in it after driving it in the snow the other day. I went to the Allison transmission shop and had a long talk with their senior tech. I told him the problem and he said the breather cap was plugged. Problem...

M1070 HET on weight reduction plan

If you lose those winches you'd probably drop at least another 2000 pounds. Then I bet a 16 foot dropside bed would fit right on there. Talk about a pickup on steroids.:shock: Or a big dump bed. Woo Hoo......that thing would haul a load of gravel.

What wheels are these? I just won these on auction and pretty sure they may be hemtt

One thing I've learned from this forum is that just about anything can be re-purposed. If you got the o-rings and valve stems with those rims you got over like a fat rat. There might be a market for them using the big flotation tires among the loggers that use 5 tons for pullout trucks...

M925A2 Fuel Tank Algae?? Black tar substance on bottom of tank

When I was stationed at Fort Benning back in the mid 80's we had four 900 series tractors that had the same problem and were a recurring source of annoyance because they constantly had clogged fuel filters. We came to find out that there was an official notification about the situation (I think...

    5 ton longbed

There are so many varibles that it is hard to give you a definitive answer. Condition, availability, location all have an affect on price. Have you checked the classifieds? Local Craigslist? There may be a SS member near you that has one.

Advice on using a truck tractor (M931 etc) for towing on a farm

What he said. 5 ton tractors are good for "pull out trucks" (getting a loaded trailer to the hardball) but suck for over the road hauling. With a loaded grain trailer you would be a toad in the road. M915/M916/M920 would be better but are still slow (around 56-60 unless you have a M915 with the...
