    6 year old gasoline...

Do you know if any fuel stabilizer has been added. Does the gasoline have ethanol in it? Was it stored outside where condensation would be worse or water could get into the containers? Since water is the enemy I'd make sure I had a good method for getting any out that was in there. Do not use...

would you recommend a military vehicle for a small hauling business?

On occasion GL will have some civy trucks that would fit the bill......he may or may not be able to get it cheap but it's worth a shot.

Which is the better power plant?

I have the 8.3 in the M927 and I love it. You can hear yourself think in the cab at speed and it is fairly peppy when the truck is empty. Parts are available at NAPA or Fleetpride and are reasonable. It's also easier to find a mechanic that can work on it.......it takes an old school guy to work...

would you recommend a military vehicle for a small hauling business?

Having had to schlep stuff in and out of the M927 (no dropside) I can tell you that unless he got a dropside or replaced the standard bed with a flatbed he will be sucking wind. I own a Dodge Dually and a gooseneck and I have done far more recoveries with it than with the military trucks. It...

    lifting a stock deuce

The sad reality is that they are now dumping the 900 series 5 tons on the market like they were doing the deuces a few years ago....the deuces are now going up in price (for one in good condition) on GL and the 5 tons are dropping. The big sticking point with the 900 series is the air brakes and...

Trailers that can be hauled by a M48/M275

My M275 has pulled the single axle electronic van trailers, the expando van trailers and various flatbeds. It will pull trailers with straight air brakes but in a heavy braking situation the air supply is depleted quickly. If loaded heavy it is a toad in the road on hills. On flat land it will...

    new to the deuce

My issue with the A3's is that yaller engine they put in it. Should have used a manual pump Cummins. That is basically a throw away engine (when you are the gooberment) that will cost you a ton of money for parts or when it breaks. The A3 is slower than the A2 which makes it a toad in the road...

m35a3 Tire options and Lurker who finally bought a deuce.

The 395's should mount just fine.....I think the main difference is the height. The A3 rim is wider than a stock deuce rim.

m35a3 Tire options and Lurker who finally bought a deuce.

You have to remove the CTIS system when changing tires. Some of the parts are made of "unobtainium". If you break them you will be sucking wind to find them cheaply. If you take the truck to a tire shop make them aware of this and have a copy of the TM with you that shows how to change the tire.

Anyone seen a halftrack with an automatic transmission installed?

What about the old "Slushbox" transmissions that were in the older deuces (M211)? I think Memphis Equipment has NOS ones in the crate. It would come closer to what might have been installed in one by the military. "The GMC M211 was the “Cadillac of deuces” in many ways, especially for its day...

    T-54 arrives!

I got an itch for armor....but I don't have the scratch.

    Getting tag in Alabama

I'm assuming that since it is an A2 it still has the original build date and VIN. If you are out in the county you can get a farm tag but that limits your range (legally). If you are in town you can just register it as a big truck but not commercial. Older vehicles do not require a title in...

More engine problems (Documentation of testing fuel system, failure of Hyd Head)

The only thing that lies more consistantly than a career politician is a MV fuel guage.

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

Soni.....with your fab skills and resources why not put air ride on it? If you have never driven a HEMMT you will find out that a cab forward (not a cab over) will beat your teeth out. And it will take a while to get used to the cab-forward design when turning corners.

    Caution when Parking Your MV.....

Some people's kids. Just look for a couple of guys with new hernias.

    Removing DRMO Graffiti

Ditto on brake cleaner. Had a bunch of writing on the M927 when I got it and the BC took it right off.

may have to sell my deuce bed

If it's a dropside bed I have definate buyer. If it's not I have a maybe buyer. Since you are close don't send it to China until after the first of the month if you can hold off......I'll be broke until my welfare check gets here at the end of the month.

LOOKING FOR A M925. Need advice!

They don't have to prove dicky doo on the side of the road......they write you the ticket and you explain your side to the judge. Even if the judge buys your argument you will still have to pay court costs. I have either been in the Army or a Commercial Driver all of my adult life and I can...

    Driving without doors?

You will need to put some sort of bar across the door opening to keep you from falling out. Still need to use seat belts. It will not be much cooler without the doors since a lot of the heat comes up through the floor. The trick to staying cool while a deuce is in motion is to crack the front...

How much can a 5 ton tow?

They will pull far more than they are rated for but you have to consider safety. When I was at Fort Benning I once pulled an old narrow guage railroad box car to DRMO with an M818 and lowboy. When I crossed the scales my gross weight was 125,000 pounds. Never got out of low range but she pulled...
